Interesting perspective. Grew up with my dad in the air force, yet all of my extended family live in South Texas. After he retired my whole immediate family moved to South Texas. Wasn't a good experience for my husband and I. Struggled to make friends. Didn't really connect with family. The "get in debt to fake a lavish lifestyle." mentality that they tried to push on us really did us in too. Moved back to Alaska where my husband and his family are from and we are thriving. So much happier. I do miss the food, culture and my family sometimes, but this is the best I've ever been.

I met my husband when I was 19 and I immediately let him drive my car. 14 years later and I haven’t gotten back the keys 🤣
But I don’t care because he’s a better driver and now I’m used to being shuttled lol
