SpaceX finally revealed the facts behind SpaceX's Starship Flight 3 Explosion!
SpaceX Starship could have had a more perfect test on the third flight if the landing attempt of both stages had not encountered incidents.
So, why did they fail?
Many blame the Raptor engine as the main culprit because this most sensitive part of the rocket had new problems.
But, is it true?
SpaceX finally revealed the facts behind SpaceX's Starship Flight 3 Explosion!
How much did the Raptor's new problem affect the test results?
Find out everything in today's episode of Techmap.
SpaceX finally revealed the facts behind SpaceX's Starship Flight 3 Explosion! One of the biggest milestones in Flight 3 is the successful ascent burn of Starship's both stages but the descent is a totally different story.
Yes, according to SpaceX, Super Heavy successfully lit several engines for its first-ever landing burn before the vehicle experienced a RUD (that's SpaceX-speak for “rapid unscheduled disassembly”). The booster's flight concluded at approximately 462 meters in altitude and just under seven minutes into the mission.

SO, WHERE ARE THOSE "FACTS" THAT TRICKED ME INTO CLICKING ONTO THIS VIDEO?

Lame click Bait title! There is no revealed info from SpaceX, just this guy's 'Speculation'

It seems the booster final entry burn below 0 km was out of propellant. Also, the lack of reaction thrusters control while landing. This is true for starship lack reaction mass control thrusters during de-orbit.

I suspect that there are heat shield issues that will make the recovery of Starship difficult. As noted in numerous videos on Starship the problem of tile loss was never entirely solved on the Space Shuttle and the videos of the re-entry of the third test flight clearly show missing tiles prior to the destruction of the vehicle.

As for the booster, we have to wait to hear if the problem of propellent slosh and turbopump starvation following staging and re-orientation has actually been solved. This huge vehicle has no ullage thrusters.

Worthless analysis that didn’t seem to have observed the flight closely. The PEZ door test obviously failed. The propellant test wasn’t said to have succeeded, only to have “completed.” The engine relight test was impossible because the ship was tumbling out of control at the time.

I think the problem was that there was air in the chamber, when they tried to open the payload door, which caused the door to fail. Although the air pressure was small, there was a large volumn. The control rockets used up all their fuel to compensate. When it came time for the belley flop, nothing was left and the ship was on its side.

I don't know how I found myself back on this channel! The last clip I watched was rubbish too. And I got a 'love' from them for the negative comment! All these AI voices are awful and disrespectful to the viewers. Mind you they're laughing at us. 65k subscribers and getting on for 3 million views across the channel! We are the mugs!

Yes click bait thats why i watch it with volume off 😂

This time at hot staging the vacuum engines ignited first and the center engines slightly delayed to avoid that 'kick' that interrupted fuel flow in the second flight.

Ship 28 seemed to be venting more than expected during its suborbital coast phase. I bet the attitude control thrusters could not maintain proper attitude with the venting occurring.

So why won't the raptor engines re light? Is the rate of decent to windy to relight? Or have we thrown away 99 raptor engines that are defective. I hope the raptor 3 is designed better.

The engines are fine, soon to get alot better.
The fabrication in stainless is fine...
What isnt fine is the tiles, the flappers, the grid fins, and the round hull shape on the starship ahead of the tanks...

And I have been doing writs on these issues for literally years...

Also predicted in a writ on Alpha Tech comments before the launch, that it would go up fine, and not come down well...

I think I counted coup again there.

Sad to see, would have preferred to have been wrong, and we got more progress.

But physics is reality...

I'd suggest the remaining V-1 ships start being altered for experiments to replace the problems.
Theres nothing to lose by learning more faster.

We know in present form whats gonna happen, so doing upgrade patches that might be crude, but point to potential solutions would be better than nothing.

I would suggest a redesign team be formed and they come up with a ship that has passive stability, real control surfaces, and a different insulation strategy.

Also run the hull gores ahead of the tanks longitudinally, so you can use chines to create better stability and lifting shapes and blended wings to eliminate the plasma concentration in the arm pit of the flappers effect.

And to get away from log rolling physics...

Also consider the upper atmosphere as a low temp braking resource via long glide ratios with aerodynamic hull, instead of the flying wine bottle effect thru lower thicker air.

There's a reason it burnt up; was a bad plan...

For encouragement,
I'll give you the saying my kids always got when they came home bloody;
"Did you learn anything?"
They always nodded tearfully...

Funny, they never made the same mistake twice... 🤭

What about the cargo door not closing properly

Nothing new here. Agreed latest shows it ran low on fuel, and/or had CH4/O2 delivery problems.

Weird that the lack of fuel is not part of this mix?

What forces the fuel into the pumps when the rocket is in freefall?

The booster ran out fuel. Look at the fuel gages.

As the ship initially rose, why was there flames going off to one side ?
