Hey there! I wanted to share some insights into the thermodynamics behind cooling a room with frozen bottles of water. Essentially, the process involves displacing heat from the water into the surrounding room, and later reintroducing that heat back into the bottle. Theoretically, there's no net change in room temperature. However, when we consider the energy needed to displace the heat, we end up with a net increase of heat in the room equal to the amount of energy displaced from the water plus any inefficiencies within the freezer’s compressor.
In simpler terms, it's like how air conditioning moves heat from inside your home to the outdoors, or how refrigerators move heat from inside themselves to the outside. These processes cool one area while inadvertently heating up another.
With that being said this will still cool you down so long as the air is blowing on you directly. Just don’t think you can set it up in a room and forget about it like an AC unit because it doesn’t actually cool down your home for the explanations given above. Just treat it like an ice pack.
