My ex narc disliked kind, sweet people, even though that’s part of what attracted him to me in the first place. My Father was a kind, gentle man with a great sense of humor. My ex always had something snide to say about him. I feel bad about how he treated him. Had an uncle who was very successful, and he couldn’t stand him (now I understand why). My ex would treat neighbors terrible and when I stepped in saying it was wrong, he raged. He’d see a nice man on tv and say, “I bet you wish you had married him!” I always suspected what you’re saying here. You are right on.

This totally puts in perspective why my ex would cheat on me with women who weren't on my level. He would cheat on me with women who did drugs. With? Him., . Weren't good mothers? Either didn't have custody of their kids or were focused on their kids, homeless at times, or have trouble payingar bills because they spent money on. Drugs. It's true I'm not a perfect person, but I do practice self development, and during our relationship, I grew tremendously personally professionally, etc. I think that being with me was reminding him of how little progress he made in his own life.

I think what he hated the most in me is the fact that I'm an optimist and he did all he could to turn me into someone who never sees good in tomorrow..
After i learned about narcissism i started noticing that he always starts his day with complaining about everyyyything under the sun . It was sooo draining to the point i came just like him and if it wasn't for god i would have stayed that way too .

Thank you for this change of perspective, Lee. It makes sense and it makes me feel better. I was always hoping that one day I could share the good in my life with my narc and help him out because his situation was kinda miserable. Now I get why that would've never happened... His loss, I guess. Sometimes you have to leave people where they are.

I needed to hear this so bad right now. One of my greatest fears is that he will treat his next partner so much better and then I have to explain to the kids why he was so bad to us but so good to some new family. It’s the single biggest fear keeping me in. I’m taking steps though. Got me and the kids into therapy and hopefully I’ll be strong enough soon to make the necessary moves.

When I met my narcussist I didnt really have alot. My furniture was in storage and I was renting a room. But during the years of knowing him, I was willed a home and got money from a lawsuit. He started giving me a hard time about $. WhenbI took him to the casino he called me names like big baller etc..I believe he was very jealous of me. I bought him a 2001 Grand Cherokee with all the bells and whistles, and bought a new Dodge Charger for me. He was happy about the Charger but mad at the same time.

He was definitely intimidated by my knowledge and emotional intelligence
