Hi!
I'm a 17-year old footballer from Sweden playing at the highest level for my age. Soon it's time to know if you make the cut or not for the players who'll take the next step and move up an age group. I don't know what I should do. The thing is all my coaches (I have three) agree that my ball control, dribblings, passing are all top notch and my biggest quality is my dedication to training and my will to always improve. The thing is though I play as a forward and they think that I'm not making enough points (goals & assists). I have 1 goal and 3 assists but they feel with all my qualities that I should have a lot more. I have very high demands for myself and they say that I shouldn't but I feel I wouldn't be where I am today if I hadn't been that way. What do you guys think? What should I do? I'd be so happy if you took yoyr time to read this and even happier if you can help me in any way.

#selfanalysis I am fairly consistent. I am the top scorer on my team and usually score or at least assist each game. I stand out, but i get frustrated with my team. In the passion of a game i think i sometimes hurt the teams morale by being toxic. How do i avoid this?

How do you measure whether you had a good game? It is quite possible to measure the wrong things. Small boys wil measure it in goals, to give an extreme example. But a mature player should be measuring/reflecting on things like how hard they worked, how was their positioning, did they make correct decisions. I guess my point is, you have to be v clear about how you assess whether you had a good game.

Also, perhaps where there are more solid measures, like did I score a goal or make x number of line-breaking passes, you also have to account for the fact that any measure of performance varies around a range. You can make 5 one week and 1 or none for a week or two after (or whatever number is appropriate to what's being measured). That's the case with professionals also. And it's going to vary according to the opposition.
