Enjoy a 1 hour long yin yoga class for full body flexibility!

Hey yogis, here's an hour long yin yoga practice for full body flexibility! Stretch out your hips, shoulders, hamstrings and low back with this lovely sequence that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and comfortable in your own body. This is a great class to do regularly if you're trying to improve flexibility and mobility in your joints. You will need a block for this practice and a blanket is optional but nice to have.

What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is often called the Yoga of the joints because unlike other styles of yoga, the emphasis is not on the muscles but on the deep connective tissue. Connective tissue is made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form your joints. Yin yoga improves the range of motion in your joints and also strengthens them. The results and benefits are more flexibility and greater range of motion and also more stability within your joints.

There are 3 principles of Yin Yoga.
1. Find your edge
2. Be still
3. Hold the pose

Find your edge means respecting your body's limits and not pushing too far and risking injury. Pull back a little bit and as you hold the pose you will be able to go deeper into it without pushing too far or hurting yourself.

Being still means that once you are in the pose it is important to completely relax your muscles so the benefits can get into the connective tissues and joints. Try not to fidget or move or distract yourself, this is a meditative practice. Breathe deeply in and out through the nose.

Holding the pose means that in Yin Yoga a pose can be held for 1-10 minutes depending on the pose performed and on the comfort level of the student.

Usually I enjoy classes with a bit of background music, but this silent one really helped calming my racing thoughts today. I personally would add one more pose for shoulders or upper back and it would be perfect.

As a guy who works out for hours a day and never stretches, I can 100% say yoga is more painful and stressful than my workouts 😅

the first few minutes i had a hard time with the quiet and not focusing on all the muscle and joint tension, once i realized that was exactly what i needed to do, turn in to the feelings, and focus on them, it became amazingly meditative and the class flew by. i loved it. now i only want to do yin yoga with no talking or music. amazing!. thank youl

So different from the yoga styles that I am used to but I thoroughly enjoyed it! It amazed me how I could feel such deep amazing stretches while relaxing in total silence through each stretch.

My family and I are stuck at home in Canada right now doing socially distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. I needed something to destress me and this worked wonderfully. I will be doing this again soon. Thank you for the lovely video.
