Something Isn’t Right About QD OLED Monitors…
Sound the alarms and start panicking, because there is something seriously wrong with these new QD OLED monitors that nobody is talking about.
Now look I want to make it very clear that these monitors are a huge upgrade over anything we’ve had previously, and in terms of price to performance they are a massive leap in the right direction, but they are by no means perfect, and while they have many flaws, what I’m going to talk about today is perhaps what I would consider to be their biggest Achilles heel.
So pucker up and hold that monitor tight, because I’m about to drop a huge load of information straight into your holes that once you see, you will never be able to unsee.
So let’s open that Necronomicon of forbidden knowledge and dive right in. Now I first stumbled upon this goofy ah problem when reviewing the Alienware AW3225QF and at the time I figured it was just Alienware falling short of expectations, but as more reviews have started to go live it became clear to me that this issue to some extent would persist among all versions of these QD OLED monitors, and will lead to some buyers being dissatisfied with their HDR performance.
What am I talking about? Brightness. Yes, these monitors are in my opinion fairly disappointing in their brightness, especially in games, and to illustrate that take a look at these charts I’ve been putting together
