I listened to this on your podcast as I did my run yesterday, really great stuff. Agreed with all the points you made, but was waiting for you to point out one big con of "niching down"—susceptibility to economic downturns.
Serving as a generalist is almost like diversifying investments; for example, we've had a number of home improvement clients pause services, but our attorneys and senior care clients are going strong. If you only serve one industry, there's a much higher likelihood of shutting down if that industry gets hit hard.

I think another question is how much you should niche down right?

Like, I consider Ecom SEO + Shopify a niche, but would you recommend going deep down to Ecom > Shopify > Fashion Industry?

Do you think the pie is big enough or is it always wise to niche down to a certain level only?

If you focus on one niche. Do you only do SEO for them? Since you are an expert won't they ask for social media, ppc, content marketing etc.
