I don't want to niche down. I do business beauty and personal development all geared to living my best life.
My observation is this:
Youtubers growing fast: Niche down that's the only way to grow.
Same youtubers at 500k: Donot niche. I want to diversify my content. I don't want to stay in a box.
YouTube: We don't care about niching. We only promote videos people like. Just create videos your fans like.

I'm still exploring and establishing my niche on my YouTube channel. Sometimes "picking a niche” is bad advice because we will be creating content for the sake of views. In the long run, we will face burnout if we're not interested in the niche we pick.
Instead, we should create content that we're truly passionate about. This way, we will be more consistent on creating.
"Picking a niche” is ONLY GOOD advice when we're really interested in the niche. Hope this helps. Good luck :)

“The creator who understands the viewer best wins.” After a year I finally found my niche. Now I’m going after it everyday. Thanks Sean🙏✌️

I think the most common advice, even think says this is that you have to give educational content to grow but something you need to remember is that entertainment is also valuable to the audience if you make entertaining videos you can grow also!

How can someone casually throw in that they play for the Harlem Globetrotters. I would have lost my mind if I was Sean lol.

I want everybody to know that this comment is pinned for no reason at all 😂

I like when you had said, "it's about people who think like you" (and not necessarily people who have dreadlocks). That makes a lot of sense – great video and clarification.

THIS is gold. THIS is my focus.
I'm done stressing over a niche because it's WHO I'm talking to that the videos I'm going to create are for.
Wow, it's hugely eye opening when its framed this way. Instead of focusing on a niche, I'll outline the demographics and psychographics and that will be my way forward.
YES!!! <3
(the above is literally just what went on in my head and came out through my fingers lol)

Picking a niche can sometimes backfire because you could be playing in a field with no people. Finding and understanding the demand and marketshare is KEY to building a successful YouTube channel. Before you begin this amazing journey, do your research in understanding if there is a DEMAND for what you want to provide. No demand = no success.

This is the best advice ever. I have seeing plenty of youtubers just stop creating content due to burn out.
They get tired of creating the same videos over and over.
And we know the reason they are not loving what they do.
I love Think Media always telling you honestly what you need to do to grow on youtube.

I like this because I think that's what I am doing on my channel although I had started off emphasizing earning money online. Later I decided to just share books about the topics I care about like the Rich Dad Poor Dad book.I thought I was maybe making a mistake but my core audience is okay with it although many old ones are not excited. It's okay though. Thank you again Sean for this video!

Great topic. I’ve been waiting to hear this particular type of conversation. Most “growth channels” seem to only talk about having one niche and focused audiences.. but, what if your channel is about you? In this respect, vloggers have a way harder time growing a channel I feel because the channel revolves around their life, their interests & their name, not one particular niche. Their personality & lifestyle are all wrapped up into their channel.
Thanks for this one 🤙🏽

Great advice as always, Sean. Sometimes the negative comments and dislikes are from people who are straight out haters and have nothing else better to do. On the other hand, it is just as you said, it is about listening to the comments, especially if those are constructive and information one can use to grow as a person and grow their Channel. I like the part when you said, "When you know who you're talking to on YouTube; the Creator who understands their viewers the best, wins!"

This Topic is so obvious but so confusing at the same time depending on the topic lol

To me, I agree, Troy has a great niche example but underestimated how powerful his broad “influencer” style could be, as Sean advises. I could see a Harlem style playlist with tricks, tops and motivation? Sure Troy's already on top of the idea if it's one he wants to run with, though!
Thanks to you both!
