Inflammation in appendix due to any infection is called appendicitis
appendix is a finger like tube present at the cecum region of our large intestine
appendix in known as vestigial organ
vestigial organ is that organ having no function in human body
according to some studies appendix plays an important role to improve our immune system
beside this useful bacteria's can also grow in bacteria
which are important for our digestive system
beside this, cells of appendix lining also secretes mucus
but in some cases appendix is blocked due to fecal particle or infection
due to which mucus doesn't come out of appendix
and mucus is collected inside appendix
due to which appendix become inflamed
and patient feels severe pain in abdomen
pain in right side of abdomen is the major symptom of appendicitis
beside this, some patients can also suffer from fever, vomiting and nausea
by looking at these symptoms, doctors can diagnose appendicitis by using CT scan or ultrasound
when doctor can see that appendix is inflamed
than this will be a medical emergency
and it needs to be treated immediately
or if it is not treated than there are chances that appendix can rupture
due to which fecal material is leaked in abdomen
this condition is fetal for patient
to treat appendicitis, appendectomy is performed
in this procedure appendix is removed surgically
