The appendix is a finger-shaped bag that extends from your colon on the lower right side of your abdomen.

Causes of Appendicitis
Appendicitis occurs when the appendix gets blocked. The blockage cause infection, and the appendix swell.

Symptoms of Appendicitis
Sudden pain in your lower right belly or pain near your navel that moves lower.
- Pain that worsens if you cough or walk
- Nausea and vomiting soon after belly pain begin
- Loss of appetite
- Fever of 99-102 degrees
- Constipation or diarrhea
- Abdominal bloating
- Flatulence
- Severe cramps

Recent research has found that mammals with an appendix tended to have more lymph tissue in their cecum (part of the large intestine) which is important for the immune system. The researchers also found high concentrations of B and T cells in the appendix; the cells that fight infection. So there may be benefits to having an appendix. However, it's absolutely essential to talk to your doctor if you think you're experiencing appendicitis because appendicitis can be life-threatening. If the appendix needs to come out, then it needs to come out!

I just got home from having mine removed. It started with my whole abdomen area, migrated more towards the bottom. Felt like gas, maybe cramps, just tore the hell up. After a few hours of clinching, and progressing to throwing up, it started to make my grown ass cry so I went in. By the time I was there, pain had subsided quite a bit and it was more local to the bottom right. They did a cat scan and told me I had appendicitis, which is what i was expecting.. but I still wonder if the medical world doesn't just kind of advocate for its removal. I wanted to treat it with antibiotics but they had me when they told me, it can and will rupture and contaminate the rest of the organs, which can be fatal and problematic. What you really need is a blood test to see if your white count is elevated and fighting an infection. My white blood cell count was 19 and the normal is 10. Without that elevation, I wouldnt have wanted it done. It was my first surgery, I hate the idea, but on the bright side, apparently they have NO purpose, nodern science believe its a devolved organ that used to allow us to digest raw meat.

My side doesn’t hurt too bad but thinking about it makes it worse. I need to get out of the habit of searching up my symptoms because I’m always wrong. I end up being wrong when I go to the doctors.

I have majorly severe medical anxiety. I hate the doctors, hate the ER, hate Urgent Care. About 8 hours ago I started to get pain on my lower right side, and immediately I thought about appendicitis. It hurts to walk, jump, and cough. Fortunately, I still have an appetite, no nausea, no vomiting. I'm not sure if I'm confusing it for something else, but its been progressively getting worse throughout the day. I also never tell my parents anything when I feel sick but now that I guess it could be my appendix inflamed, I'm gonna have to tell them and probably go to the ER. Wish me luck 🤞


Edit: I actually tore a muscle in my stomach. Don't know how I managed to do that but I'm fine now.

When I came home from school one day, I went to the comfort room. And when I tried to sit down, the pain just went through my right side. I was waiting when the pain would stop but it didn't so I rushed out bursting with tears and went to my mother and when she saw me she asked me what had happened and I told her that something was hurting, and when she saw me crying she called the doctor and made an appointment. At the appointment the doctor told me to drink this fever medicine for a week and the pain would go away temporarily? But yes the pain did go away and the doctor did say that where it was hurting was where the appendix is and whenever my right side hurts the doctor said to visit. But after that day, even though my right side hurts. I don't really know if I feel pain when pressing it even though it was hurting. And whole writing this, it was starting to hurt again. ※My cousin also had surgery for his appendix too.

I feel like i have the first 2 but not the last 3 .. sometimes some bloating and light heartburn .. pain level is not severe and been about 10 days? Doctor said to just rest and that they thought it’s a pulled muscle, any thoughts?

I had mines removed 3 years ago, hospital recovery for one day and I was out of there not really much pain after, the want let you leave until you can use the bathroom on your own and it takes a lil bit to walk but not bad believe me. Hope this is helpful

Had my appendix out a few days ago now. Very close call. I was on holiday on a 2hr30 flight away from home. Whole belly started hurting and felt bloated Saturday and Sunday. Just uncomfortable. Whatever. Travelled home Monday morning and on the flight back I was turning green. By the time I got off the flight I was vomiting every 2 seconds turning myself inside out. Finally got home and I screamed the house down with ab cramps all night simply thinking I'd torn some muscles from this 'vomiting bug'. I'll be okay when it passes. No. It was my appendix. Never felt such pain and kinda scary I managed to not go to A&E as I screamed for my life all night, hallucinating, can't drink 1ml of water, vomiting black. Worst night of my 30 years on earth. Traumatised. Thankfully okay now and never have to go through it again!

I remember that happened to me not too long ago. It was three months ago. I was just relaxing from a long day at work till one day my stomach started to hurt really badly. I thought it was something I eat to pass some gas but this pain was not even normal. I couldn’t even stand up right because I was in a lot of pain. My parents ask what was wrong and I didn’t know what it was. So one of them took me to the hospital in the middle of the night. The doctors runs some tests and draw blood and they found out my appendix was starting to swell up. So then they gave me a shot to relax the appendix for now and transferred me to another hospital so they can remove the appendix first thing in the morning. The next morning they took me in and removed the appendix and I was relieved that it was over. They did told me not to lift heavy stuff till I was fully recovered. I had to wait 2 weeks for it. But it was all good when I came back to work and I’m all good now.

I am so worried right now, yesterday i've experienced it that my lower right abdomen hurt, but only in 5 × iguess. And awhile ago in the morning my tummy hurt but it doesn't go down into my lower right abdomen and i'm pooping alot. Just Pray to God and drink alot of water. 🙏😇

Oh ya my side hurted last Friday and my parents said maybe its the poop so I did poop but it still hurted so I was rushed to the hospital and I was so scared so when the doctor called us I was nervous and in the xray I was shaking so bad cause I was so scared and the results came in and they said no surgery its just that u have alot of poop in ur stomach and have to eat fruit to get all the poop I thought I had the appendix the end!
