Today marks 12 years since I had my appendix taken out. There are no words to describe the pain I felt the day before. It was very hard for me to move and painful for me to urinate. I still have flashbacks every year around this time. What pissed me off about that whole ordeal is that my father thought I was lying to him. Who the hell would lie about being in that much pain to the point where you can hardly move? I’ll never forgive him for thinking such a thing.

PSA I went to the hospital with just right side pain and no other symptoms and they told me I have appendicitis. So if you really feel pain just go don’t wait until you have all the symptoms because you might not get them all

Appendicitis is a pure nightmare, it feels like you're getting stabbed over and over again. I don't wish that pain upon anyone. If you feel a discomfort in your lower right abdomen, get it checked out, please.

Just got back home from the hospital. I had my emergency surgery last Wednesday. This was the worst pain I have ever endured. The best thing was to go to the hospital for sure!

I got an inflammation on my appendix night to monday. Went to my doctor that morning, he sent me home with laxcative cus he thought I was constipated. Just got worse and worse so I drove down to the ER and they ran tests and etc. Was there for atleast 5 hours before I got ana painkillers, the pain was crazy. Got my appendix removed yesterday thank God.

Thanks for this video. You're the first doctor that mentioned that the pain starts in the umbilicus (belly button). I had the most intense, terrible pain there for about 2 days. I was well aware where my appendix was and I thought I had food poisoning (rather than appendicitis) because the pain wasn't wasn't in my lower right side. But on the third day, the pain did go to my lower right side. I went to my doctor and after he examined me I went immediately to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy. I was 14 at the time and it was a terrible ordeal.

Thanks for sharing this information! To add to this, in 2017 (the year this video was made), we learned some information that has changed the way we think about the appendix. Recent research has found that mammals with an appendix tended to have more lymph tissue in their cecum (part of the large intestine) which is important for the immune system.  The researchers also found high concentrations of B and T cells in the appendix; the cells that fight infection!  So there may be benefits to having an appendix.  However, it's absolutely essential to talk to your doctor if you think you're experiencing appendicitis because appendicitis can be life-threatening.  If the appendix needs to come out, then it needs to come out!
