I used the buttons on my monitor to change the aspect to Wide (16x9). Solved it for me.

This isn't helpful to me. This morning I turned on my computer and everything on my screen was smaller than normal, and changing the scaling in Settings doesn't help. The icon pictures have also disappeared, and those pinned to my taskbar are replaced by the plain exe icon (except when a program is actually opened).
I also can't run Minecraft because of this.

This is silly, because it doesn't answer the question of how to resize your screen. You see we don't only use the laptop screen, we connect our TVs. So the hdmi setting then throws the borders out of line and it gets stuck on zoomed settings. I need to know where to find those horizontal and vertical axis sliders. That's what I came here to find.

I bought surface and the windows display does not fill the screen. The screen has two black unusable spaces on the sides. You think that Microsoft would know how set up their on laptops. The provided instructions did not help.
