iPhone SE = Special Edition, but really the formula is very simple...

Phone provided by Apple for review.

I think an iPhone SE using the iPhone 8 Plus design would help solve the phones inherent limitations - better battery life, bigger screen, dual cameras, no major manufacturing changes needed by apple.

SE: Standard Edition, its legit just a standard iPhone

I think what they should’ve done is use the XR body, use Touch ID on the power button. Remove Face ID and then A15. You’re getting the updated design language but with cut down features.

I just got an 2022 SE, I had an iPhone 8 and I am thrilled with the SE.
If you can emotionally survive the occasional sneer from your friends, this phone objectively does everything and more, that one might need in a smartphone.
Don’t allow Apple to unnecessarily take more of your money than what is truly needed. Keep in mind that we would all be amazed by this technology just a couple handful of moons ago.

Probably one of the most balanced reviews I've seen. Marques definitely realises the target market for this.

I'm not a gamer or a heavy user. I wanted SE 3 for the small size and the A15 chip. A compact, slim, budget friendly, powerful phone that fits nicely in one hand and doesn't bother you when u put it in your pockets. Love this phone.

I had an SE (2016) until recent, loved it, I went and tried the newer SE in store.. ended up spending the extra coin and going with the mini as it felt miles ahead and thats coming from someone who always stands by the budget phones. The mini form factor seems like such a more natural successor to that original SE. Seeing this be quite similar form to the last SE to me makes it seem further behind the pack

I've been using the old iPhone SE since 2018 and it still works great and actually fits in my hand, unlike the massive brick-sized phones nowadays.

I'm using the SE 2020 for almost 2 years.
My opinion about this new SE 2022 was
1. It wasn't that big jump from the previous SE. To make it simpler they just updated the processor and 5G connectivity
2. If you're using the previous SE, I won't recommend buying this one but if you're planning to buy a new SE 2020 I can recommend of having this one instead.

I've been using the iPhone SE 2020 for a little less than a year now, and I gotta say, I've been impressed. Although the phone is not the most eye catching or maybe fun to use as a flagship iPhone, it really gets the job done. Really wouldn't be opposed to buying the 2022 edition when this one runs it's course. Cheers Apple!

I think it is great that Apple keeps updating the iPhone SE while still maintaining the form factor.

For many senior citizens, who have a steep learning curve trying to keep up with tech these days, it is a perfect update. My mom (84) has used the past two iPhone SE models and the low-end iPad for some years now. Loosing the home button would be a nightmare for her, having to learn even more gesture controls...

So, really happy that Apple sticks with this design.

Everything people complain about with the SE (other than battery life) are total positives for me. I like the single shallow camera. I like the efficient, rectangular display. And I love the home button. The only reason I got a 13 mini was the fact that it’s physically smaller (could still stand to be even smaller, though), the square-edge body design, and the better battery life. Otherwise I prefer everything about the SE. I hope Apple continues not destroying the wonderful simplicity of something that works perfectly and just keeps dropping newer chips in it.

Since the iPhone SE came out it was always the best version for me. Using the 2020 now and I will upgrade, but this thing still works. Considering I don’t ask much of my iPhone, I won’t rush to upgrade on release day, but I will eventually. The iPhone 8 form factor was always my favorite for some reason. Just simple, and I love Touch ID. I’m definitely in the target market for this phone.

I had an SE2 and upgraded to a 13 mini when it released. The screen on the SE2 was my biggest gripe - even on max brightness, any amount of sunlight and you can hardly see the screen.

Honestly glad they keep coming out with these. My 82yo grandmother could never learn to use anything more advanced in design than this.

I still have and use the iPhone SE from 2016. It's been 6 years and it still works perfectly fine... with one exception - the battery life. As someone who uses only the most basic phone features models like this are attractive to me.

Would love to see Apple release an SE+ with the old iPhone 8+ body, the 1080p display, bigger battery, and the dual cameras with new chip.

Simple Edition is spot on. The biggest feature I want is size, the smaller the better, and after that, longevity. For a tool that is for texting friends, and the occasional email or that app you need to get around a convention, or to show your tickets at the gate of a concert, this is it. I don't use the camera, I don't use it for games, simple is what I want and I like that I can count on the SE iPhone every time.

Number one reason I like this form factor still is the Touch ID. It's so much more satisfying and intentional when it comes to things like Apple Pay and keychain logins.

Marques' reviews are awesome and my go to. He's not into crazy theatrics but still creative and fun. More importantly, he tells exactly what is there to know and answers any questions I have about a product. Marques also raises questions I was not even aware of but now realize I need to. Bravo, Mr. Brownlee!
