Great fix, Dave! I fixed my Kenmore dishwasher a while back, after it leaked water all over my kitchen floor and I'm now waiting on a relay for the compressor for my Frigidaire chest freezer that conked out 2 days ago. Videos like yours give me just enough knowledge to be dangerous. Cheers!

I have been keeping our stacking wash/dryer for years now. It's over 10 years old and can still get parts from a local appliance parts supplier. The parts are not cheap as I don't a tradesmans price but it's satisfying to keep the old thing alive.

Good job. I had similar experience. I ended replacing the entire dishwasher due to the cost of labor and parts are so expensive. I just have to add another $100 and got new one. The original problem was it doesn’t drain. Then after a week it doesn’t power on. They were 3 technicians came in different time, each one of them has different diagnostics. One replace the control board but still the same issue, 2nd replace the hose and drain sensor, still doesn’t do, then last came with a replacement for the internal parts but it doesn’t work. I complained to the appliance company with so many parts they ordered cost $. 579. I said to the company i don’t want to pay since it wasn’t repaired. So I ended paying the duagnostic for $79 and 3 technicians called demanded to pay for their labor and parts since the appliance didn’t pay them. It took them 2 months back and forth to arrange for a technician schedule due to covid with less technician available. so it took me a week to deliver the new diahwasher and installed by a handyman for $100. buying new equals less stress and less time. Never again with American Home Shield Pro. What a ridiculous company

I feel your pain....Our 7yr old Whirlpool Dishwasher has just developed a slow leak on rinse cycle and we are getting a slow drip through the basement ceiling....this fix will be a little more in depth to find the seal that has failed. Good fix on yours!

Board could use some conformal coating perhaps? Great fix. Once I found how easy it was to fix my dishwasher...saved me $1300 with a $10 part. Videos like this are invaluable

I did this with my chest freezer. Discovered just before I went to work that it died. I suspected a bad thermostat.

Luckily it, even though it was cheap, had a schematic behind the service panel that helped me see how it worked.

One new thermostat later and yay, working chest freezer.

Other people would have just chucked it out. In total it cost me £9 in parts!

we bought a new gas range but had electronic oven controls. after about a year the oven controller said the keyboard was bad. so I took the thing apart, and the main board was covered in mouse 💩 and pee. the micro was fried. there was nothing to stop a critter from going on top the board HAD to replace it😡 but i did that myself (board was $300 usd ) when the new one got here i COVERED in UV coating and cured it, been 6 years never a problem again 😁 i can only imagine what a "repair guy" would have charged

With the number of times I've had to repair out of warranty fridges because they ice up ... I've run out of fingers. And they are all built by the same companies regardless of the brand names. It used to be they'd last 15 to 20 years. The new ones are CR*P. Same with dish washers, clothes washers, clothes dryers and most of the modern electronics sold in the big box stores. And even under warranty they kill you with convenience fees. Thank goodness for repair videos on YouTube.

Nice fix :)
Brings back memories from the 90's as my mom accidentally toppled a flower watering can on top of the dish washer resulting some buzzing noise coming from it. I quickly disconnected it from the mains and opened the circuit board cover to try and dry it. Luckily nothing was damaged.
I don't remember details anymore, but I guess I did something right, as the diswasher worked just fine for the rest of the time my parents lived in that house. They moved away from that house in 2018 and the same diswasher still worked, bought new in 1992.

Almost identical to my Samsung. I had an old Maytag with the mechanical timers and it was still working when I replaced it for the new POS.

There are times where our dishwasher leaked out on the kitchen floor, and we had to replace the entire thing. Now it sits in our out building and my dad and I are trying to find a time to fix that thing so I can use it as a parts washer.

My dad bought a beat up 1948 fridge in 1970. He cleaned it up real good. Paid $10 for it. 52 years later it still purrs away in the basement. It just won't die!

I know at the time of typing this this video is 2 months old, but I can definitely relate. I agree, these new appliances don’t last. We have a Maytag washer and dryer (separate) that my dad had decades ago. A few years ago, the washer’s mechanical timer quit. At first, we thought we should get a replacement, but I said, “Let me see if I can fix it.” It’s just a simple set of switches! It took me around 10 minutes or so to fix it! My dad and I are in complete agreement that we need to try to fix things ourselves, because repair people will jump right in and say, “Those old machines can’t be fixed. Better to buy a new one.” And yes, these machines still work to this day!

I repair appliances for a living, I prefer working on older stuff! That being said I've replaced so many of those button boards because the switch failed!

My granite counters have the camouflaging ability of a Ghillie suit. Put a screw or small part on the counter and it becomes invisible!

I just changed my AC condenser last March 2021 and told the guy if my heat exchanger is good on furnace leave it in. It was fine. I wanted old furnace because I can fix the old furnace's control board if it craps out. I don't want one of the new furnace's with the surface mount crap and microcontroller on them that cost 3 or 4 hundred bucks to replace. By the way I changed condenser only because I got tired of worrying about it dying during a heat wave. It was still chugging along. Furnace is approaching 34 years old. Condenser was almost 33 years old. I maintained both myself. All 3 techs that came out for quotes could not get over how clean my furnace was. DIY is required in todays world. Keep up the good work. P.S. Just changed water heater too within weeks of the condenser. Also 33 years old. All OEM gear from when building was built in 1988. My buddies motto is "Take care of your shit and your shit will take care of you".

We recently had to have out hot water heater replaced because it had completely rusted away and flooded the house. We called several different places to price now much it would be. All companies wanted nearly a $700 to just remove the old one. I decided to disconnect it and remove it myself. A good old pair of channel locks and 10 minutes later it was on the truck going to the city dump. Saved myself $700, which paid for a brand new water heater.
