✨ GE DISHWASHER - NO POWER - Easy FIX ✨
Fixed With A New Power Board
Easy to Install a new GE power board. It lives below the dishwasher door.
Before replacing the power board, try unplugging the wires to the power board for 30 minutes and then plug back in to see if it powers back up.
This is very common for GE Dishwashers.

✨Try these RESET instructions before replacing parts:

Discovering your GE dishwasher seems to have no power or is flashing and beeping for no apparent reason can be an unwelcome surprise or frustration that might have you thinking you need to call a dishwasher repair technician. However, there’s no need to fret, as chances are the issue can be resolved by performing a dishwasher reset.

How you reset your specific GE dishwasher will depend on its model number and whether it has the control panel on the front or on the top of the door.
What causes the dishwasher to need resetting?
There are several reasons why your dishwasher may need a reset. The more common reasons are a power surge, pressing the start button too many times, a failing component, or an aging control board.

If the dishwasher has been working without any issues or error codes showing, it is unlikely a more serious issue, like a failing component or defective control board, is responsible.

Power surge or power cut
If there is a power surge or power cut, most GE dishwashers will need to be reset. Reset instructions will vary depending on the model and type of GE dishwasher. However, in some cases, pressing the Start/Reset button and then waiting a few minutes will get the dishwasher to reset and reboot.

For other models, after a power failure the dishwasher Start/Reset button may blink when the power is restored. Pressing the Start/Reset button once should start the drain pump to remove residual water from the dishwasher. After about a minute, the dishwasher should be back to normal and ready to be used.

If the power went out while the dishwasher was in the middle of a cycle, with most GE models, the dishwasher will remember where it was in the cycle and resume from that point.

, the Start/Reset button, when pressed once, will start the dishwasher cycle. However, if pressed twice, the dishwasher will reset. Pressing the Start/Reset button will restart the cycle.

Beeping or blinking lights
Press the Start/Reset button
If the lights are blinking and the dishwasher is beeping, it can be as simple as pressing the Start/Reset button to return the dishwasher to normal. The issue could also be caused by the door being open, where closing the door properly resolves the issue. If the issue remains, disconnecting the power will likely solve the problem.

Disconnect the power
Beeping or blinking lights are often caused by a power surge or an error code.

One way to reset the dishwasher when the lights are blinking or the dishwasher is beeping is to disconnect the power to the dishwasher for 30 seconds. If the dishwasher does not appear to be reset, try leaving it unplugged for ten minutes instead. If your dishwasher does not have a plug, the power can be disconnected from your home’s electrical panel.

Blinking Start or Start/Reset button
If the Start or Start/Reset button is blinking, the dishwasher is likely shutting down after being reset. The light should continue blinking for 75-90 seconds before turning off. Once the dishwasher turns off, you can press Start to turn it on, and the dishwasher should be reset and ready to go.

Kickplate reset button
Some GE models have a reset button behind the kickplate access panel. If your GE model has a kickplate, you can unthread the screws to remove the access panel, and you may find two buttons in the bottom left corner. Pressing the first button will reset your GE dishwasher.

Make sure to disconnect the power before removing the access panel, as the junction box wires may be exposed, which could electrocute you, especially if you are unfamiliar with what is behind the kickplate.

To put the dishwasher in service mode, hold the Select Cycle button and the Start button down for five seconds. Next, to reset the dishwasher, press the Select Cycle button for five seconds. This should activate the lock button light. Press Select Cycle again for five seconds. Hold the Start button now for five seconds. The Start button should start flashing. Finally, hold the Start and Select Cycle button down for five seconds. The dishwasher control panel should now light up, and the dishwasher should be ready to go.

Unplugging and plugging it back in at the connector by the power connection worked for me

Before you buy a new circuit board: I simply unplugged/unclipped the two modular connectors below the dishwasher and plugged them back in and it came back to life. You should turn the circuit breaker off before you do this to prevent electrical shock. My theory on why this problem happens is that there may be corrosion that develops on/in the teeny tiny pins on these connectors. On mine, it wasn't just a power/reboot problem. I know this because prior to this solution, I had left my circuit breaker off for days and when I turned it back on, the dishwasher still didn't work. It wasn't until I pulled those mini modular connectors and reconnected them that it immediately came back to life. I made sure to repeatedly unplug and re-plug them in a bunch of times in a row in an attempt to "exercise" or help rub off any corrosion that may have developed on those pins or in the pin receiving holes on the plug before finally connecting them back permanently. So far so good. Not a fan of GE anymore.

Thank you! Bought an OEM part vs refurb. Anyone else who takes this on should be aware that they will encounter some very sharp corners and edges along the way. I think we all can agree that old school GE appliances would have lasted way more than 3 years, so the fact that we even need to have this video is a shame. In any case, well done, sir. Very helpful.

Thank you! I used this video to find and unplug connectors to circuit board and then reconnect all, and it worked afterward! No need to replace circuit board yet, but am thankful I now know how to find and replace in the future if required.

I bought a GE in 2017 and it did the same thing sometime mid last year and eventually just died. It’s been sitting there for over a year never used. Wife came across this video a few days ago and ordered the part. I installed it this Morning and it fired right up. Thanks!

Not to offend anyone but everyone is patting themselves on the back for “fixing” their own dishwasher and how much money they saved. Doesn’t it bother anyone that 3 and 4 year old appliances need to be fixed. I replaced the main power board at 2 years, repaired the pump at 3 and now 4 yrs. it’s dead again. I should have known it was coming, plug unplug works for a week or 2 then dead again. I did know it was up to something, random musical tones at all hours seam to be a harbinger of a problem. The thing that bothers me most is Where Is The Outrage! . This company is pumping out junk and people are happy when it’s only a board replacement. I plan to dissect the board and test each component, I wonder if there’s a GFI circuit that’s somehow resetting itself. One thing is for sure if I buy another dishwasher, it won’t be GE.

So helpful and thanks for making it sound easy. Our GE dishwasher stopped working during a storm, watched your video, ordered the part, re-watched and followed your brilliant steps. Flicked the breaker back on and it lit up. I couldn’t believe it! We have been hand washing dishes for 2 weeks. You can’t beat the feeling of fixing it yourself. Genuine thanks.

Dishwasher had no power. Estimates I received were $350+ for repair. I went on repair clinic and purchased a control board and figured I would take a shot. The video was very helpful to follow along. I now have a functional dishwasher and saved $250 in the process. Took a bit longer than I would have expected, but it was much better than paying for the fix. Cannot recommend highly enough

BEFORE replacing the control board, … try this instead, ….. shut off the house breaker or unplug the control board (located behind the kick panel at the bottom), for say one hour, then plug back in or turn on the breaker. Every few months I get no power to the display, and all I do is the above, and it’s works each time. I’m very suspicious about this defect from GE, and someone is selling a lot of boards unnecessarily. At this point I just leave the home breaker off until I need to run the dishwasher.

I have similar GE dishwasher and I had similar symptoms. I was ready to replace the main board but I found REAL culprit.
The main 3 pin female connector that connect 120V power to the main board had was loose. I disassembled it, bent connectors and put it back together. It works again and I didn't replace ANY parts. Sometimes other part that works with that connector has to be re soldered....(male connector that is soldered into the board). Folks, please check those electrical connections BEFORE buying expensive parts. A door/latch switch is very often overlooked cause of many failures.

Another thank you to add to this list. This must bea common issue as your video was the first search result I found. I ordered the replacement board, with an updated or new part number. It worked flawlessly and was truly an easy job, taking less than 10 minutes to put everything back together. Working like a champ!

Is there a way to test the board to make sure it is the failed part?

My ~3 year old GE dishwasher would not start (beeped like the door was open). I replaced the latch, but that didn't work. Replacing the control board did the trick. Thank you for the clear instructions!

Thank you so much for this.
We have the same model at home and several months ago it started to regularly beep once out of nowhere. I think it was after a power surge (as you mention in the description). We let that go until it just suddenly stopped turning on. All I ended up doing was disconnecting this plug at 0:52, waited a bit before plugging it back and after turning on the breaker it beeped back to life! Glad I didn't have to go all the way to changing the board, but the video was nonetheless very helpful! Now to hoping it keeps on working.

So thankful for this video. I’m trying to sell my house and whaddya know? all my GE appliances crap out together after 5 years. This video totally worked!!

The only problem I had was having to slightly bend the circuit board tray in on itself so it would fit back inside its spot.

Thanks!!

My GE dishwasher died, I unplugged those first 2 connectors you showed, I waited a minute, plugged them back in, and it chirped and came back on, been running fine ever since... worth a try everyone.
