I did not know I was autistic then, but I was in a trampoline and gymnastics program and LOVED the feeling of throwing my body around and trying to make my moves smooth and graceful.

I remember when I was a teen my feelings of fear and anger were usually much stronger than they were earlier or would be later on.

I love the part at the end where Ezra is collecting the bottle labels. He's so adorable when he gets excited.

5:49 Two big sensory sensitivities for me:

Hot air and cold water. I tend to refrigerate my car when driving and take long, hot showers.

Thank you for the video. I relate to many of the topics discussed. Maybe it is just me but I had a little bit of trouble hearing at times with the ukulele music in the background as it seemed a bit loud in relation to the speaking. I have sensory processing difficulties so perhaps it's fine for everybody else. I just wanted to let you know.

Great video! I understand the value cold air, also just getting away for a bit to reset my high feelings and be able to think better of what i want to say. I have started to use my balcony as a place to escape for a few minutes to calm down. I sometimes take my notebook or my phone with me so i can write down thoughts if it feels like I have too much in my brain. Also commenting on the chess club freeze, that is so relatable to me. Not the chess part.. but in new social situations and approaching new people, I will often freeze up. Often I will stay on the periphery, but it can be so rewarding when I can push through the anxiety, and especially rewarding when it goes well. 😅👏

I have bad anxiety, and I use the umbrella of it’s not a one size fits all- but I enjoy watching both channels
I used to be shy, and didn’t make eye contact- now I show kids they aren’t alone! I’ve got an autism tattoo ribbon on my ankle
I’m 32, and I was diagnosed before technology got better-

I found that counting to ten didn’t always work for me. Sometimes I would count to twenty, fifty, or even one hundred. Even that did not always work by the time I was about fourteen or fifteen.

My sister and I both lived upstairs in my parents’ house and even though we were in different rooms we would find it distracting if we were both upstairs at the same time while awake. We both have sensory sensitivities (especially to sound) and even with my door closed my sister would find the sound of me typing on my computer to be too loud for her and she would tell me to stop even if I was writing a paper. The computer that I had back then was a desktop rather than a laptop so it was not portable.

I remember my parents would sometimes buy me a Conehead sundae at Friendlys after a big event (such a a clarinet recital). I remember it had an upside down ice cream cone on top with hot fudge on the bottom and Reese’s Pieces. The sundae also had whipped cream on it. I think this was slightly before my teen years because this was a kids menu item.

I remember when I was about twelve or thirteen I tended to perseverate a lot. I still have some tendency to do this even now in my late 40s but I usually control it well unless I am very tired or unusually stressed out.

I don’t perseverate as much now but when I do it’s usually about certain topics like the Canadian news (For example a number of weeks ago I was often talking about the postal service strike in Canada.) or something else that is being covered in the news right now.

What did you gain in 2024

Normal People: oh just a bit of weight

Autistic People: More stress, More sensory needs More BASICALLY EVERYTHING

I remember by about age nine or ten my parents would have me set my place at the table and I could usually handle that. It would vary depending on the type of day I was having but I could usually do it.

Also they would have me put my plate and silverware in the sink when I was finished with it around that age.

I have anxiety and found an anxiety type of drop that helps a whole lot when I do need it and when I was in my teen years I used to be stuck in my own shell but this school year was my first year at college and I have come out of that shell a lot more something that also helps me feel good is using my stuffed animal that has silk on if I could also get at least advice on at least getting enough nutrition or even sleep like how is sleep and eating effected

My grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins lived at least an hour away and we didn’t see them that much.

I have really bad social anxiety but me and my cousins are all neurodivergent so we get along really well. Me and my oldest cousin like to play Call of Duty together while me and my younger cousin like to pretend play with each other
