G'Day Legends,

Today I found Hydra in one of my aquariums and thought that it was a perfect opportunity to discuss the cause, prevention and treatment of it if you haven't had it yet.

Hope this helps.

Oh the poor little snail got zapped! Great catch on video. Haven’t been around for a while, you are looking fabulous! ❤️🇦🇺

Good tips. Dealing with some in one of my tanks right now. Single dose of no planaria has helped me in the past

I have loads of hydra in my Mystery Snail breeding tank. No chemical treatments are safe for that, but I did discover the pond snails and larger mystery snails will eat them.

Can always count on Blake to have a helpful video! I just found some of this stuff in my Honey Blue Eye tank. What's your thoughts, add a guppy or will the blue eyes eat Hydra? I've been feeding BBS every second day, would you recommend stopping that also? Thanks for all of your content, it's been a huge help over and over again.

Thanks for the video. I've got a buttload of these in my betta fry tank, and they're most likely from constant brine shrimp feeding. If it weren't for this video, I'd probably be dosing some chemicals, but I have a bunch of molly fry in another tank and will be trying the natural methos first. Thanks again

Hey Blake! I've had these from time to time. At least they are easy to deal with. Hope all is well with you

Ive got hydra had them in my tank for over a year now not as many you though but ive not fed the tank any live food its a scud and isopod tank ive not seen any attacks or decline in those so they must be living on copepods or something else i did have a nerite snail that would eat them but didn't get rid of them im going to leave them and keep observing they have a purpose and are probably doing good in some sort of way

I haven't fed my 55g shrimp tank in probably a month. Turned the light down. Added some fishies. Nada. These hydra are not going anywhere. 😂 Looks like its no-planaria for me.

Good to know it's all the same ideas I have tried and now on to the serious muscle for my specific situation.

Don’t they eat debris and mosquitoe larvae? I don’t own an aquarium so idk exactly what makes them detrimental

I don't feed live food anymore. I'll feed frozen daphnia, etc. as a treat, but no more live foods. Besides, the live fish food market collapsed during Covid, and the old suppliers around here in Los Angeles haven't started back up, so I switched to frozen foods, and I'm gonna stick to them. Cheers!

Would you recommend a guppie to help control a hydra outbreak? I only have a 3.5 gallon that houses 3 mystery snails and a rams horn. Thanks!

Hi Blake! Would my CPDs eat the hydras?

Single dose of flourish Excel will get rid of Hydra, based on personal experience. Hope it helps someone else
