I literally just came from my dermatologist who told me the exact same thing about my ingrown hairs

This is how I prevent ingrown hair:
1. Waxing over shaving
2. Using a 2% salicylic acid wash on the area before waxing and also 2-3 times the week before waxing. No scrub.
3. On dry skin (no lotion or moisturizer), wax
4. Applying aloe gel with vitamin E and allantoin on the area after waxing (can use any anti inflammatory product but I recommend aloe)
5. After aloe gel dries, 12% lactic acid cream (one can use 10% lactic acid and also lactic acid with urea)
6. Again apply this cream the next 3-4 days instead of regular moisturizer on the waxed area.

I've really sensitive skin and my skin gets inflamed, red and bumpy immediately but doing this I get ✨SMOOTH✨ skin. Zero ingrown hair.

I’d rather give myself a hole with the tweezers it’s therapeutic thank you

To prevent them is to exfoliate and use clippers to trim the hair just above the skin instead of a razor that will cut the hair just below the skin and shave a layer of skin causing skin to heal and grow over that hair that was just shaved below the skin. Thus, causing ingrown hairs

He's like: Spend $1, 850 for an ingrown.
Me: Nah, isopropyl and sterile tweezers.
Love your vids, doc, but this one ain't it lol

My boyfriend had a nasty blackhead on his back. I messed with it and that allowed it to start coming to the surface. Thought it turned into a zit and I squeezed it getting quite a lot of puss before the core shot out. It was like almost half an inch in length. Turned out it was a very impacted hair follicle. It had so much nasty built up behind it

I actually always get this in two areas, Pubic region and eyebrows. Surprisingly they actually never get infected or even have a pimple of any kind, They just stay under the skin with the eyebrows. So you have to usually just dig them out and get them, And that usually takes me a few weeks or sometimes months to get rid of it.

Pubic region does go a little red and inflamed but nothing too serious, Again needing to dig/bleed them out with tweezers until they can be plucked!

Glad he didn’t go the common and unhelpful route of “just stop shaving!” It’s so frustrating to hear as a person who gets them even without shaving.

Be careful with these. I had one that grew into a pylonidal cyst and, no exaggeration, almost killed me. Emergency surgery to remove a tennis ball sized cyst inside my body that put me into septic shock. On the surface it was just an ingrown hair on my belt line

Skin doctors ingrown hair lotion has been a life saver on my legs. I dont know whether it works on ones that create bumps on your skin, but if you get ones on your legs that are straight and you can see the hair under the skin, i use this on a cotton pad and the hair just pops out & then i tweeze/shave. I used to dig them out with tweezers but then they would become inflamed. We can't all afford laser but the lotion is affordable!

I typically don’t get ingrown hairs, but when I do I definitely use warm/hot water first and use a tweezer to extract the hair. (Pubic area)

Before I shave my legs I use a scrub (on my legs ONLY) and then lather it with a moisturizing body wash. Shaving creams honestly dry my skin. So use your body wash (I use Aveeno) and shave lightly, never press against your skin. That can cause irritation and redness. After I get out I use baby lotion to soften my skin and to keep it hydrated.

Another way to prevent ingrown hairs (pubic area) is to let your hair GROW! Do not be one of those people that shave every single day. Give your hair some time to regrow to where the shave is easy and smooth.
