We make our last tomato harvest in the greenhouse for the year. A lot of them have turned and are inedible so it doesn't take long to harvest. We then see how long it takes to make butter from our cows' cream.

The Beautiful One was talking about how the pitch change let her know the butter was done. Some friends did that with their ice cream maker. They'd play a note on their piano and when the freezer motor made that note, they knew the ice cream was perfect.

The haircuts on the kids showcase their Josiah looks grown up all of a sudden! I notice he’s stepping up quite a bit or maybe I ve just noticed that because of his new “grown-up” look!

I can't express the respect I have for the way you raise your young adults. They are far too experienced from the word crawl to ever describe them as children. Far more accountable and knowledgeable than most adults these days. Good job dear sir and ma'am. This is from a 35 year old.

My goodness as a kid in the 1940s I helped my Aunt on the farm here in Australia make butter. It took hours. I’m 81 now I wish my poor overworked Aunt was here to see the method today.

Love the boy's haircuts. They are such handsome young men. Every body working together to get the meal ready. Great job Mom & Dad for teaching them to cook at an early age. Too many young adults today haven't a clue how to cook anything. Thanks for sharing the episode. Have a Blessed day.

We buy wheat straw for our garden from a hay and feed store. It isn't classified as organic (designation is too big of an expense for the farmer) but it is classified as not sprayed with the herbicides that can kill your crops. Most of the farmers market farmers are not organic registered but do go above and beyond the requirements for the organic classification. Joy Giles

Several comments here about the participation of your children. I watch several homesteaders' videos. I never fail to notice how responsible, how more mature & competent the children are.
Clearly they're not overworked or abused, but a little work, especially for their own land, their homestead, brings out the best in these youngsters.
How many city dwelling families might benefit from involving their kids in their home activities!
Instead, their kids go on arranged 'play dates, ' live on electronics, & do highly organized competitive sports... Homesteaders' children seem to understand the work & operation of their Family's operation & know something of the work that's required to run the Family homestead.
Forgive the length of my remarks, but I'm really proud of, & impressed by these Families who get it that children need training in meaningful work, to develop the pride of knowing how to do things well, & how to support & interact w/others, & participate in their Families' work.
Congratulations to these fine parents. God bless you & your Families! You're an example to Parents everywhere.

She is doing things with her butter that we never did. First we churned our butter and scoped the butter off the milk. It was put in forms and (butter forms) and set it refrigerator until firm. I never saw my grandmother use water.

When I was young, we had cows that I would help milk and then run the milk thru the cream separater. My Grampa would use the cream to make butter in a big electric churn. He had beautiful carved wooden molds that he used to firm the butter. I loved the patterns on those molds and wish I had them now.
