I remember my mom telling me not to whip the cream too long or it will turn into butter. That would have been 60+ yrs ago. I'm now going to whip the cream too long!!

When I was in grade school our teacher put the cream in a mason jar or maybe even a cleaned out plastic peanut butter jar with a pinch of salt. She closed the lid and starting with the first student. We each shook the jar for 2 minutes then passed it to the next student. We did this until the cream turned into butter. The teacher passed out saltine crackers on a napkin and put some of our butter on our crackers for us to have as a treat. I can't eat crackers to this day without butter. Yum!

I had a Guernsey cow named Essie when I was a kid. The butter and ice cream we made from her milk were out of this world.

There's been so much negativity directed at this lady. The world would be a better place if we focused on offering constructive criticism rather than tearing each other down. Keep the great work JoJo! Please continue to share your videos & with kindness in your responses.❤

Here in Germany butter prices have skyrocketed and knowing how to make it myself is definitely helpful, so thank you very much!❤

I was drawn back to this video because someone liked a comment I left weeks ago. For whatever reason it triggered a memory I'd like to share.
My mother was a nurse and as a child [me] she worked in a hospital. A very generous man would periodically gift her with a gallon of farm fresh milk which had a very thick layer of cream on top. My grandmother lived with us at that time and she taught myself and my sister the jar shaking method of making the butter. Btw, it wasn't yellow, it was white.
I just felt compelled to share that, it's a good memory💜

Made this just now in my Ninja blender, it beat the heck out the milk and left NO whey! It turned into whipped butter! Thank you! Shalom

With so many things being added to our food that we know nothing about, and as expensive as butter is I will gladly try this and will be passing it on to others it is to simple to not try.

When I was young, Daddy would put milk into a glass jug, cover the top with layers of fabric tied down and put it in the corner of the kitchen. In my memory that glass jug held 2 to 3 gallons. After it separated, he would put it in a churn and then mix it until he had butter and buttermilk. He would give me a small glass of still warm buttermilk to drink. It tasted amazing. Then he would squeeze the buttermilk out of the butter and mold it into a bowl with his own design across the top. I don't know when he added the salt. I still have my grandmother's wooden butter mold.

I decided to research how butter is made. Your video was the first one to appear. I was afraid the process would be very labor intensive. It made my fears disappear. Thank you for making this video. I appreciate it.

Of course, why did *we ever stop* making our own butter in the first Thank you for reminding us--and, the buttermilk, fresh, man the food, pancakes, biscuits, muffins, cookies...

Hi there from Clatskanie, Oregon. When we were kids our grandma would give each of all grandchildren a small mayo jar with heavy cream in them. About 1/4 full . Then we were told to shake till the milk separated. Boy what fun we had making butter for our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. It also kept us out of her hair while she was cooking. Thanks
