Girl yesss! Mr. Knightley is my number 1 Austen hero too, followed by Henry Tilney. I love him for all of the reasons you mentioned, but also that friggin speech is one of the most romantic declarations of love I have come across in all of literature.. I mean that line " if I loved you less I would talk about it more"- umm thanks to Mr. Knightley I will never accept a man unless he says this to me.

Agree!
Captain Wentworth's letter!! Swoon! And Mr. Knightley scolding Emma when she has been unkind is one thing I love about the book too! He knows she's better than that and wants her to see that too! Excellent list!

I agree about Mr. Bingley, I also wish he made a bigger effort with Jane when Darcy was trying to keep them apart, he just kind of took Darcy at his word... at the same time as a couple I adore Jane and Bingley BECAUSE of how they were kept apart and Jane deserves happiness!

Absolutely agree with your #1 pick! I feel like our lists would have been very similar. My favorite Knightley is either Jeremy Northam from the 90s movie or maybe the actor who played him in the webseries "Emma Approved". Jeremy Northam really makes his character come to life.

Knightley is such a great character! I do think I would put him pretty high on my own list too.

I'm back here, now that I ended Emma, what can I say about mister Knightley, he is gentle, polite, have a good heart and other things that makes him so lovely.

You're making me want to reread Emma! Captain Wentworth is my second favorite too! That letter 🥰But my very favorite is Henry Tilney--he charms me every time I read Northanger Abbey.

Thanks for the shoutout! :)
And yes, Bingley is wishy washy - that so well sums him up.

This was really good! Am currently reading Persuasion for my Jane Austen TBR and am interested to get to know Captain Wentworth as he seems to be high on many people's lists.

Mr. Knightley is my favourite Austen hero too! Actually our top three match. I don't know that I would have put Churchill on this list but I get your reasoning.

This is so great!! I agree with your assessment for the most part (maybe all parts!)

Edmund is such an idiot! You describe him perfectly, lol! It's one of the main reasons Mansfield Park is my least favorite Austen book (despite loving all her books). And George Knightley is the best, I agree! While Emma isn't my favorite Austen book, George is definitely my favorite Austen hero too!
