My favorite Austen novels have changed as I have aged. You will look back on this video when you are older and laugh. I love Persuasion too. It’s always been in my top three. P&P is back on top for me. Persuasion is number two. Great video!😊

I find it so hard to rank Austen's novels. Mansfield Park is excellent. I read an article recently that compared it to King Lear and talked about how it is difficult for modern readers because the conflict is a moral conflict. I would be interested to read more Austen criticism that considers how Austen deals with virtue. Modern readers are not always in tune with so much of the novels because they are so based on virtue. Anyway, if I had to rank them, I would have Emma, Persuasion, and Mansfield Park tied for one, Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility tied for two and Northanger Abbey last. I haven't read Emma for awhile, but I remember being very engrossed when I did read it. I would like to reread it soon. I thought Jane Fairfax was a fascinating character.

I’m glad that I was introduced to your channel and that I watched this video! Persuasion is my absolute favorite Austen novel: it was my first Austen, having read it when I was a sophomore in high school, and I have re-read it at least once a year ever since then.

My ranking: Persuasion > Emma / Mansfield Park > Northanger Abbey > Pride & Prejudice > Sense & Sensibility

It's been....oof...17 years since I read Jane Austen's novels? 😅 Hearing you recap them is ringing some bells, e.g. the sudden pairing of Marianne and Col Brandon (kindaaa weird). I remember preferring the movies over the books but I'm going to try reading Austen again, with the fresh perspective of life experience. For example, I really didn't like Northanger Abbey, but I have a feeling I'd love it now. Emma will probably remain a favorite, I'm a sucker for heroines whose own worst enemy is themselves. 😂 I'm with you on Mansfield Park, though - poor Fanny is greatly underrated. 💛

I'm definitely going to do an Austen ranking after reading Persuasion and Northanger Abbey!! though, I'll probably save NA for towards the end of the year.
YES, FANNY!! <3 and yes, I love Olive's video on her and the book.
