As a boy, a young Anakin Skywalker had dreams of returning to Tatooine and freeing the slaves. However, Anakin grew up to be the right hand man of the most brutal ruler the galaxy had ever seen. When he discovered that the empire was using slaves, he confronted his master. Palpatine was surprisingly understanding, claiming that he forgot that Vader had once been a slave himself. However, he went on to explain that slavery on Tattooine benefited no one but the slave master but that slavery to the empire was benefital to the whole galaxy and a merciful alternative to death. Standing in shocked silence, Vader accepted his master's explanation and he never brought up the issue of imperial slavery again.

Vader’s thoughts: I should tell him to stop.

Also Vader’s thoughts: He might charge me up like a battery though……..Let me shut the fuck up.

Vader shouldn't have backed down and opened the cages while staring Sidious in the eyes but then Sidious would have been able to foresee Vader killing him to save his son.

Yeah that logic follows, Palpy. “If we didn’t enslave them, we’d have to kill them.”
“Why not leave them alone?”
“I find your lack of faith disturbing, Lord Vader.”

It’s crazy watching these videos as someone who has only ever seen the movies. It’s like there’s a whole different world Star-Wars media that I’ve never seen.

This is really interesting. I’m really surprised on how Sideous was somewhat understanding to Vader’s issue in slaves. In a way.

I like how he didn't get mad, he very calmly and almost kindly explained his reasoning, not even using a half assed excuse for it

this breaks my hearth imagine you are the most powerful person in the galaxy and you can do nothing about your agony

Dude I’m not gonna lie when I read that for the first time I was genuinely looking at palpatine and thought “you really are one of if not the most monstrous villains in fiction” strait up thanos threw his daughter over the cliff and wiped out half of all life but reading how palpatine justified slavery to a former slave was so shocking I never looked at Star Wars the same again

Much like Yuthura Ban from Knights of the Old Republic. She joined the dark side to gain power and free her fellow slaves. Only to never go back and free them, and instead becoming distracted by a constant crave for more power.

The last few of these have just been palpatine trolling vader or purposefully saying things to piss him off
So its nice to to he tried a different tactic when it came to slavery

He most definitely tried. But Palpy shut him down fast.

Vader: Master...
Palpatine: Yes, child..
Vader: Is that a slave I see!?
Palatine: Ye- .. * aww shet~ I forgot he was one *
Palpatine: Well, ya see.. It's for the good of the empire
Vader: Understandable, have a good day..
Palatine: wow.. That's ez..

To claim that something is only beneficial when it done by you or your party is a form of corruption known as hypocrisy, whether it is slavery or sexual assault.

A literal "it's okay when we do it" excuse

Palpatine actually understanding is kinda cool he doesn’t force, or tell Vader to reflect on it for anger, but just tells him that it’s beneficial and helpful, I guess palps has a bit of humanity just a a tiny bit for Vader

It’s interesting to think about how much humanity was still in Anikin after he became Vader. He still had all these questions and problems that isn’t really portrayed munched in the actual movies.

My head cannon is that Palpatine isn't actually a genius mastermind, but it's that everyone else just happens to be really dumb, especially Vader.
