preferences > audio > lower buffer size. then options > reduced latency when monitoring

With this recording method you'll always record with latency. To lower the buffer size won't solve that problem. The only possible way to record without latency is the following: Dublicate your audio track (with all vst you need for your sound). Set the first track to "Auto" and the second to "Off". Be sure to arm both tracks before recording. Hit record and play tight! After that you can delete track one. Track two was recorded without latency. Voila!

I'm trying to punch in to a session that has FX and stuff I have them all disabled and it's still a second delay. a brand new session I don't have the latency, what the heck should i do

Here's a tip I haven't seen anywhere, MAKE SURE you are using the ASIO driver instead of the direct input from your device. For some reason the latency is less when you put it through that.
