Are you tired of all the confusion in the Catholic Church? So was I! For this reason, I decided to intensely study the Catholic Magisterium in order to discern between what people say about the Catholic Church vs. what it actually says and teaches. If you are a confused Catholic, or are discerning becoming a Catholic, Reason & Theology offers you an in-depth examination of the situation in the Catholic Church that will help make sense of the confusion.

The writers of the books in the bible must also be considered infallible for their writings to be infallible. So if you hold to sola scriptura, then you must at least admit there was infallibility outside of the bible in the early church.

Sola Scriptura literally contradicts scripture.

I’ve never understood what “Unbiblical” means when it comes to Protestants; because I’ve heard it said in multiple senses:

“Unbiblical” means:
1. Directly contradicts the Bible. (Ephesians 2:10 is an example) for Sola Fide and Sola Gratius:

2. Is not explicitly written in the Bible (genetic fallacy)

3. Is explicitly affirmed in then bible.

The game plan with sola scriptura is to just assume the canon and argue about what scripture means until Jesus comes back, all the while claiming scripture alone is sufficient.

I would love to hear Reason and Theology and Truth Unites (by Gavin Ortlund) to talk about this. But maybe not? Trent Horn did have a decent go at this subject with Gavin so maybe I’m just recommending people go see that. It’s a fun debate and R&T is a nice way to be informed before going into a that.

You're not going to find 7 laws of Noah or Nohide laws in the bible and those laws are for the gentiles from God. Nohide laws makes sola scriptura false.

There is a massive difference between needing an authority to determine the canon (such as the tradition of the church) and needing authoritative interpretation and any of those authorities needing to be infallible. No Church Father thought his interpretation of either the canon or how to read Scripture to be infallible, but they all affirmed the infallibility of Scripture.

There are 66 canonical books in the Bible. All of them are accepted across denominations (one or two may argue a few, but overwhelming majority agree) because they are confirmed (or at least accepted) as inspired by God. God is the only infallible source outside of the Bible. The apostles weren’t infallible, but they were inspired by God when they wrote the scriptures and thus because He is writing through them that scripture is infallible. I trust God and His word, I do not place my trust in a Pope or a Preacher, and no one else should either because humans are fallible.

Comparing the Canonicity of Scripture to Sola Scriptura creates a false dichotamy. The Canonicity of Scripture, meaning the 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament, wasn't established by one man. Rather, the canon was established by several scholars and groups at separate times, and they followed a set standard of what they agreed meant that a book was truly inspired by God. So, it wasn't by the work of just one man. However, in the Roman Catholic Church, the teachings of the Pope and Traditions are held in equal authority, and some cases in higher authority, to the Scriptures. Within Protestant, or non-catholic, churches, that isn't the case. The minister's teachings are not above the scripture. In fact, there are passages in the Bible where the layman is challenged to study the scriptures and compare the teachings of their pastors, ministers, and teachers against the words of scripture.

Your entire argument falls flat on its face. It's not even properly touching on the true point of contention. The Pope may be the head of the Catholic church, but he's still a man. He can get things wrong, and teach things that are against the teachings of scripture. Without Sola Scriptura, it is way too easy for false teachings to enter the church.
