Protestants cherry pick the bible verses they agree with and ignore the ones they don’t agree with. It’s sad. Their pride drives them to cherry pick. If 1/3 of the angels rebelled against God because of Pride, how many more men will be lost because of the same sin? Just as the fallen angels rebelled against God, the Protestants have rebelled against God’s Church.

Even in my wishy-washy Lutheran upbringing, I knew I had to accept the Holy Spirit into my heart and help me continue to be better.
I don't think most Protestants truly believe they can do nothing and still be good Christians, but there are certainly some who do not take their faith seriously.

Personally, the Catholic view of the lifelong process of sanctification, slowly carving away the layers of sin (as I've felt it) has made my faith flourish like never before! I have never felt more secure, safe, happy, fullfilled, and even...euphoric at times! I feel a calling to selflessness and being as charitable as possible!

"Faith without works is dead." As well, the Scriptures also say God has laid out works in front of us that He expects us to do, like with Moses or Abraham. Works exemplifiy that you have faith! It is not some competition as to who can do more goodness (that will lead you into pride like the Pharisees), but God calls us to work, and so we must.

1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 We give thanks to God always for all of you, remembering you in our prayers, unceasingly calling to mind your work of faith and labor of love and endurance in hope of our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father

I think this method is good…shorter videos, to the point, some humor, and going with the counter point first and showing how that doesn’t work…I like it.

I like to use the Noah's Ark story as an illustration. Noah had "faith" (believed Gods Word) but still had to build the ark ("works"). In other words God provided grace/mercy for Noah and his family but He did not build the Ark, Noah did.

Ah yes James 2:24. This has helped me so much with discussions with our Protestant brothers and sisters.

I have a scripture I wanted to share with you.

Some people call this scripture the jewel in the gospels & I agree !
Mark 8:34-38

34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
35 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.
36 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
37 Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.

Verse 35 is the key verse & describes the commitment a person makes to be a disciple of Jesus.

We all have/had worldly dreams about what we were doing with our lives. We all have an agenda, desires, ambitions, goals, plans.

But Jesus says we are to give up our earthly life & live for him. He has to be our Lord!

He says we are to lose our earthly life for him. He also says we do it for the gospel; meaning proclaim the gospel.

Being a fisher of men, seeking & saving the lost, making disciples.
We help others out of the world & repent of their sin.

We still have dreams & plans, but the will of God becomes first place.

This is the commitment we make to God.

Verses 36, 37 show it's a matter of salvation!

This whole passage shows characteristics of being a disciple of Jesus. For example; denying yourself, carrying your cross & following Jesus.

Being his disciple is the most Noble life anyone could ever live!
You have become a minister of reconciliation & an ambassador of Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:1- 6:18

It's the greatest adventure & when you die; you get to be with God for eternity! It's the greatest joy, peace & meaning anyone could ever experience ! ! !

To watch our Protestant brethren explain away these verses is truly a sight to behold.

Only those crystal clear verses that support Catholic soteriology need to be approached with “caution and discernment” while verses that they think imply faith alone are taken at absolute face value with no need for further explanation.

The double standard is obvious.

I kinda AGREE with the PROTESTants though. Once a Person is TRULY SAVED, their Works will SHOW.

How many good works get you in to heaven?

I’m recently convinced that 1, 2 Timothy and Titus especially talk about catholic things. At least Titus does.

Titus 1: 5
For this reason I left you in Crete so that you might set right what remains to be done and appoint presbyters in every town as I directed you.

1;7
For a bishop as Gods steward must be blameless, not arrogant, not irritable, not a drunkard, not aggressive, not greedy for a sordid gain.

3;8

This saying is trustworthy, I want you to insist these points, that those who have believed in God be careful to devote themselves to good works. These are excellent and beneficial to others.

When I read Titus before mass on Christmas Eve I was like huh! These seem oddly close to things we Catholics believe?

John 5:29/paraphrased..." those who did the Good DEEDS/WORKS/ACTS to a Resurrection of Life, and those committed the Bad Deeds/Works/Acts to a Resurrection of Judgment."...

This means that Faith in Christ thru the Grace of God needs/requires good Deeds/Works/Acts (like the Acts of the Apostles) in order to be saved... Does Good Deeds/Works/Acts required in our Faith for Salvation... 100% YES... w/o good works/Deeds/Acts (Charity of Love to thy neighbors/foes alike), is just a Dead Faith or a Worthless/False Faith (James 2)... Amen.

Faith is NOT a checkbox like "yeah I believe in Jesus."
Remember, if you love Him you OBEY His commandments and gospels.
So it is an "active faith."
Also remember the parable of a rich young man? asking how to go to Heaven? then Jesus enumerated most of the Commandments?
So it is not a check box that by believing you are saved.
👍

Seems to me that we can all claim to have faith in Jesus, but it is our works which prove whether or not that faith is true.

James 2 also says at the end of that chapter that faith without works is dead

Even demons have faith; they believe God exists, are they saved? NO. Just believing doesn't make you better than a demon. Obedience and following what Jesus tell you to do is what matters.

James 2:18-20
18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless?

James 2:21-24
21 Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.
24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.

James 2:26
26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

James 2:24 COMPLETELY and classically taken out of context

James 1:1 (KJV) reveals who the author is addressing the letter to the 12 tribes (of Israel)

As funny as Bryan Mercier maybe he can never convince anyone something they are not

So please stop taking James 2 horribly out of context
