This saved me a trip to the home depot! I couldnt figure out how the top came off. I had water softener resin leak into my plumbing and i had replaced the line and the fill valve after flushing the whole system but the new fill valves still got a few stray particles in it. This helped me on 4 toilets!

I did this today by myself! I was so proud of myself for not needing to hire a plumber to replace the fill valve. I would have never even attempted to do it if it weren’t for these videos on YT.

Theres a lock ring in the middle where you adjust the height.

Just unlock it and slip the upper off and put another one in lol . Takes 5 minutes if they don't want to spend replacing whole thing with a new hose

Thank you. Cleaning the diaphragm valve worked. It didn’t even look dirty but the toilet is now shut up and my sanity has been restored.

As a service man…

Repair should be like 25% (at medium to low risk)
Replacing should be 75% of the time (it will be more benefit for longevity for customer)


Yeah I know but the customer right…
It is wrong for you to assume how much money someone else has right , so charge firm and fair.


Aim for peace of mind and if you put new stuff in there 75-99% chance you can be sure it’s going last.

lol I work for a hotel. I change these out all the time. Only annoying part is sometimes water spillage

I had that problem and fixed it today. I thought that I was going to have to replace the whole fill valve. But, I saw a YouTube video of someone taking off the top and flushing that filter. Color me surprised that the simple fix worked, for $0.
