U made it look dead easy. As a plumber with over 40 years experience, I come across easy ones like this every blue moon.

Just watched you find a gas leak that 4 other companies could not. Congratulations, if I lived in the USA I would 100% have u as my plumber.

The job is fairly straightforward. Usually the problem is the toilet shut off valve does not work properly, unless it’s a 1/4 turn ball valve!
I always like to know where the main house shut off is in case the old crusty valve goes south, sometimes the toilet shut off valve hasn’t been touched in years and years, and they don’t cooperate!

I have an old style fill valve with the ball float. Can I replace it with one of these?

Check the supply lines gasket in the nut as well to see if it’s degraded. It may only be sealed because it hasn’t been touched in years and will start leaking soon as you screw it back in

Did they shorten the float pipe so you use less water. I cannot get it to fill the same water height as before. I checked against the old shaft and the new is much shorter thereby not allowing the Floaty to go as high and the water stays lower

The washer between the fill valve and tank needs to be installed first . It comes in box and needs to be cutout of piece it comes with.

Alot of time it's just a piece of debris in the valve. Top unscrews very easy to clean.

Do yourself a favor and use a fill valve that has a brass shank. Also use a one piece stainless with metal nuts on top and bottom. I've seen those plastic shanked fill valves and supply nuts break and flood many homes over the years.

All you had to do is pull up the slip ring and put the fluid master on the old stem, it doesn't hurt anything to do it that way!

You can just replace the internal parts and never have to drian the tank. Much easier and faster.

Maybe fix the staining in the toilet while you at it. Note this is to the customer. Not the plumber who is doing told what to price.

There's a $2 gasket in that specific valve that you can replace in about 45 seconds.

I do not have that flapper in my toilet tank. I have a plastic thing that goes up when you flush and it just keeps running off and on. It is driving me crazy. I bought a replacement kit, but none of the parts look like what is in my toilet. What can I do?
