step 1, insert RAM into pci-e slot
step 2, pour thermal paste into CPU socket
step 3, whilst touching the pins, forcefully insert ryzen cpu into lga1151 motherboard

Preaches about wearing ESD strap, then proceeds to install CPU without wearing it.

The last AMD processor I installed was a phenom II in 2010 I’m glad that ryzen introduced intel to the concept of competition again.

ESD strap is not so important. Actually, newer hardware is way past the olden days that the motherboard has ESD protection anyway. This is one of the long debated misconceptions in the tech market. Pearsonally, I've never used a ESD strap. Just touch a metal something before build, that's enough.

Too much thermal paste don't affect temperature, but too low does. But risk of too much thermal paste is that it can spill and if electrically conductive, it can damage the motherboard.

3:37 This is what you can do for threadripper, but wow that's a lot of thermal mayonnaise for AM4 Ryzen. :P

Just a heads up, whenever you need to change something like the cooler or cpu, remember to let it run for abit heat up the thermal compound, if you don’t you might end up pulling the cpu out of the socket which might damage the board or cpu.

obviously not enough thermal compound, needs at least 4 tubes, please improve

I think applying the thermal compound like an 'X' puts too much thermal compound which, after putting on the heatsink, will spill over the edges of the CPU and gunk up the sides. A pea-sized amount at the center is enough. Personally I put a small amount and spread it around myself, careful not to reach the edges. This way I control the spread before attaching the heatsink.

One thing that is unfortunate with the pre-applied thermal paste... Removing the heatsink often results in the CPU being stuck attached to the heatsink. Warm up your computer with a stress test/game first... then power-off computer. Ensure you are free of static charge. Loosen retention clips. Give heatsink a very gentle twist while still attached to socket bracket before lifting up.

The same steps apply with zen 3 CPUs as well, just make sure your motherboard chipset supports it and possibly update the BIOS
