The plastic on the new one is easier to clean and doesn't degrade like that awful soft touch material.

Thanks for the video. I bought a second pair of these a few months ago as a backup and just opened it up. I noticed the change in microphone and no bag and thought it might have been a knock-off.

I've had the hyperx cloud alpha and bought the Hyperx Cloud 2 HP version and played CS:GO and i must admit the way i heard steps really gave me an advantage, so if you guys want to use this headset for FPS games it's really, really good!

as someone who's used the Kingston HyperX 2s since around release and just switching to the new HP HyperX Cloud 2s (old ones broke), I can say I could instantly tell that they were different. I found the new version has more of a hallow sound while gaming and less bass.

Edit: After a year. Kingston ones are fine, HP ones broke. My head is not that big. I am using them normal and the left side plastic cracked and now its broken.
It's cheap plastic, once it breaks there is not much you can do about it. Low quality. Hard pass. Don't buy HP ones.

The plastic has broken on one side and the metal cup fork fell out, i had to piece things back together with strapping tape (clear with fibers).
When removing them i used to grab one cup and kind of roll them off my head and place on a hanger, apparently this was too much stress for the soft plastic.
The fact that people are 3D printing replacements says it all, i use but do not abuse my equipment.
Now i have to very gently grab both cups to remove.
Mine are the kingston version, i have had then for almost one year.

The rough gaudy blue 3D replacement parts are not happening so i have to go with a used set for parts, can i get parts from HyperX ?

I'm shocked to only be learning about these changes after the plastic connecting the headband to the ear cups have cracked on both sides out of nowhere. Had nothing like this with my old pair that lasted for years without issues.

So I recommend people do not buy these. I cant imagine HP are ignorant to the stress applied to this area, and so it would appear to be a form of planned obsolescence. Note that their warranty specifically does not cover physical damage to their products.

sound quality is the same. but i heard the kingston one's lasted for 3-5 years easily, the hp one's get loose after 6 months for me. feels like the joints are gonna get loose and break off anytime. the build quality seems flimsy to me that's the only noticeable change for me. for me its a bummer i thought it would last long time. now i know it won't last more than 2 years

Can you tell me the length of the cable on the HP model ? I think it's only
1 meter but I'm not sure.

got the hp ones, the plastic on both sides already teared on the exact same spot (the plastic belt buckles where the cables come out). now i cannot adjust the headband anymore. its biggest setting basicly. Gotta love cheap plastic.

Why does nobody talk about how extremely loud these are through the USB connector? The volume control box is useless as it changes system volume instead of headphone volume, and the amplification is extreme. At 10/100 these are already loud enough to guarantee hearing damage, and at 100 they're so comically loud it's like an iphone loudspeaker on half volume, you can hear what's playing through them from another room. The mic is trash and almost inaudible, worse than the old budget HyperX Stinger. The 7.1 is a marketing meme which is a "make everything sound terrible" toggle.
Ironically they sound good for the price, far better than Sennheisers in the same price range, but that's the only pro to them.

I have the version of the headset with the hp design but made by kingston as the serial is not embedded with the hp mark and the sound card has the kingston logo in the back (i think what i have is the revision version that was made when kingston was still around then hp came and ) im planning to find an older version of the headset because i can't really get a better sound quality headphones since most of them are over my budget and i have heard that the hp version sound a bit worse

Found a tossed out pair of the Hyper X (HP) CA002. Not sure what other model name it has. Is there an internal battery? Thank you 😁 didn't find a microphone! Looks to be in good shape, but haven't tested them yet. They are the "Cloud Alpha" series

I've had both and the build quality, sound, and the mic on the HP were not as good IN MY OPINION (tested plugged into a dedicated sound card, not the USB). The headband adjustment was really loose on the HP compared to my old Kingston's. The sound was a little "tinnier" and same goes for the mic. I ended up returning the HP pair and hunting down a new old stock Kingston pair on eBay to replace my original Kingston pair. Just my personal experience. Any who, always love your content. My most trusted reviewer when it comes to headsets and webcams.

Mine say Kingston inside the headband and on the cable module, but have all the aesthetic changes of the red HP in the video. Purchased Jan 2022 from Amazon
Oh and the packaging of the Kingston, but without the mesh bag
