To anyone doubting that this car has 10000 HP or anyone saying that jet engines do not have a HP value only thrust. Every engine has power. I will break it down for you. There is horsepower which is well… power, thrust is the force and there is also torque. Torque could be treated similarly to thrust as torque is a rotational force and thrust is a linear force. In ICE, power is equivalent to torque times angular velocity of the crankshaft. For jet engines power could be measured in 2 ways. Some jet engines are used to propel a crank shaft like in helicopters. Then the power can be calculated based on the torque of the propeller and it’s angular velocity. Just like in a piston powered engine.

If:
P = power in watts
W = work in joules
F = force in newtons
s = distance in meters
t = time in seconds
r = radius
M = torque in Newton * meters
w = angular velocity
a = angle in degrees

Then:
w = a/t = 2 πn/t
P = M * w
M = F * r
So P=2Fr πn/t

But if you wanted to calculate the power of a jet powered dragster you’d be multiplying the thrust by the max speed achieved hence the power on the shaft is irrelevant in this case. Keep in mind that the power value on the shaft and the power output calculated with thrust will be different. Generally speaking jet turbines that are designed to transfer the power through a shaft will have turbines that create much more resistance and therefore produce less thrust. Jet engines that use thrust for propulsion will be the opposite. Less resistance created by the turbines so less power on the shaft and more thrust.

This particular jet car is powered by a j60 jet engine which produces roughly 24 KN of force.
If:
W=F * s
V=s/t
P=W/t=F*s/t
So P=F*V

Then for the data:
V(max) = 440 km/h = 122 m/s
T = 24000 N

Calculations are:
24000(N) x 122(m/s) = 2 928 000 Watts

2 928 000 (W) = 2928 (KW)
2928 (KW) = 3927 HP

Keep in mind that this figure is the hp produced at the max achieved speed but still the numbers can get higher with a sufficiently long runway. Power of a jet car is in relation to it’s speed just like an ICE’s power is in relation to it’s rpm.

So you can very easily calculate a jet engines hp and 10000 hp is actually quite plausible
