That could be why he sleeps in the Geno route, to try to get enough HP to survive the knife slash that will inevitably happen, and could be why he kept chats from having the turn, so he could buy time to sleep more and get more HP. I think this is a valid theory. People might argue by saying that he got one shot but that because we did millions of damage, and there's no way anyone can survive that.

Was theorizing about this with some friends a few weeks ago. But one asked this. “If sleeping universally gives hp past your max then why don’t you get more hp when sleeping in the bed in Toriel’s house?”. Maybe we were just overthinking it but there might be more to this.
