We have a hard enough time getting enough resources to teach your kids BASIC math, English, history, and science. I live in Tulsa, which is only about fifteen minutes from Owasso, where Nex went to school. Raichick was also responsible for a spate of bomb threats on schools here. She's even proudly bragged about and is proud of being stochastic terrorist, and thought it was great. She is horrible, Walters is horrible, and this entire state is horrible. I'd leave in a heartbeat if I could.

Fun (not really) fact! The cat litter thing was actually so that students could go to the bathroom during school shooting lockdowns. It was proposed after Columbine, and died off shortly after.

Its not just LGBT kids the schools are failing in this regard (though they still have it the worst by a wide margin). I have autistic cousins and to say they've been bullied horribly at school would be a massive understatement. And nearly every single time the school sides with their bullies, to the point of literally destroying evidence. There really is a fundamental problem with how the school system treats marginalized groups (and that's putting it as kindly as i possibly can).

I love that the parents decided “all our kids are failing math class because their teacher taught them to be gay instead of teaching math” instead of the reality “my gay kid can’t do math because I’m not prioritizing education and instead am saying school is evil and they don’t have to listen to it and also they aren’t gay”

Literally the number of times I’ve sat across a meeting table with a student’s parents and had them say to my face that they tell their kid not to listen to us when we try to discipline or correct behavior or tell them to literally learn ANYTHING because they had a bad experience in school as a kid can’t be counted on my fingers and toes combined. And I’ve only taught for 7 years

i was a target of chayas. she reposted a video of 15 year old me answering a question someone asked, and thousands of grown adults called me anything you can imagine in the name of "protecting the kids." I was 18 at the time the video was posted and it made me so incredibly anxious. Just from the sheer volume of hateful things directed at me, I felt like the world's opinion mirrored those replies. I couldn't go out for a bit. My boyfriend saw me cry for the first time. I still haven't fully gotten over it two+ years later, that shit sticks.
