They think every facet of the military is solely focused on shootin' guns.... when most of it is logistics and backend stuff. So yes making sure people are being treated well is something they spend time on so they can do their job better.

8 yrs in the Navy. I was in when Obama canned "don't ask, don't tell." Outrage over the military asking personal questions is nothing new.

I think this lands more in what I see as the third form of fake news. It's not quite misinformation (getting things wrong) or disinformation (intentionally fake info) but rather where information is selectively chosen without relevant context or details to skew people towards a specific conclusion / opinion.

Besides DOD, many organizations have annual climate surveys to make sure leadership isn’t asleep at the switch about some issue. Wouldn’t you like an anonymous way of letting chain of command if something is lacking? Better that then to go into combat with a divided team.
