The RTX 5090 has been hyped for almost all of 2024, and with Computex being a complete miss for this GPU and a release date. I thought I would analyse what we know and tie that into what Nvidia would most likely do to give what i feel is an accurate prediction of what to expect.

chapters
00:00 RTX 5090 expectations disappoint in June.
01:48 First part of the analysis, what has worked and what hasn't worked with previous generations of flagships, GTX 1080 Ti to RTX 4090.
06:15 Second part, the leaks, 448 bit bus or 512? 28GB of GDDR7 or 32GB?
08:44 Part three, the release date and price.
10:45 conclusion, when do I expect this card, what price and what performance?

With no high end AMD GPU’s launching anytime soon, what’s the rush for Nvidia to release 50 series

All of the rumors concerning the 5090 remind me of the intro to "The Twilight Zone."

You definitely have the correct pronunciation for that "leaker", you just forget Seven, Kopite Seven Kimi lol
We will definitely see the RTX 5090 coming on the market around October/November 2024...
Happy midweek Bryan 🔥🚀

I saw mlid and others saying the 5080 would come first since china reasons, does that mean 5090 would likely be pushed to 2025? Or will they release both at once. I am wondering if i should buy now since my 1080 is getting long in the tooth and it looks like at least 6 months wait plus probably more for benchmarks/scalpers/paper launch/early adopter issues

Hey Brian, you made no mention on the 4090 China ban and the release of the 5080 first instead of the 5090? What do you think?

The real question is what the best cpu to pair it with will be?

Great video but saw a flaw, you listed 4090 with 10K cores bu it has 16K when comparing 4090 to 5090 specs page.

I miss the old days with 512 bit memory interface on consumer cards.

I think something that's understimated for the 2080ti vs 3090 thing is the "desperation to upgrade" factor.
The more "bad" generations Nvidia puts out merely delays potential sales until the next "good" or "good enough" generation, while the "I have more money than sense" crowd will still buy in the bad generation
So really, it's in Nvidia's best interest to keep this "tick-tock" of "bad-good" generations going to maximize sales.

I have a Radeon RX 580 Series computer and a GTX 1660 ti laptop. I want to buy a new gaming PC. I want either the 4090 or a 7900 XTX. However, all this talk of the 5090 releasing is putting me off buying now. Any advice?

I think the 4090 'worked' because the market has been starved for so long. The 3090 was very meh aside from having gobs of VRAM but the 3080 was priced crypto high so it wasn't all that attainable either. Now this 4090 launches with 4x the performance of the card you're upgrading from and you skipped your last upgrade cycle so you decide to treat yourself. That and so many of the 4090s aren't being sold for gaming.

4090 has 2 encoders, 24GB, and 50% more tensor cores then 3090 witch just one encoder
in the first 3 months for sure and maybe up to 6, 50% of the 4090 were not bought for gaming, it's a monster if you ca fit your workload in just 24GB

real question is, what target audience nVidia picks for RTX 5090:
- if it will be primarily AI driven workflows, then it will require big VRAM uplift, at least 32GB or 48GB vram - in which case I'd expect prices around RTX 6000 ADA
- if it will be primarily gaming oriented, then it can be just a faster RTX 4090 with faster vram, no need for more vram, just make new gen DLSS for better upscaling in order to achieve higher performance at 4K or so - in which case I'd expect similar prices around RTX 4090

Love seeing all the videos and rumors leading up to the next release. I will be sitting the 5000 series out bc my build is just over a year old (4090/7800x3d). Unless it's a crazy generational leap forward I'll be sticking to my 4090.Might upgrade my CPU tho. Always enjoy the videos!
