First meal of the day: six hard-boiled eggs to break my 14-hour intermittent fast. Fasting has so many incredible benefits, but it is important to break your fast with healthy, nutritious foods. I like to break my fast with eggs because they are very nutritious and an excellent source of protein and healthy fats; they don't spike your blood sugar, providing steady energy throughout the day. Eggs are also a good source of choline, which is great for brain health.
I hard-boil a dozen eggs a couple of times a week and eat them throughout the week. There's a lot of great research coming out about intermittent fasting: how it's good for insulin resistance, brain function, healthy aging, as well as gut health. However, it is crucial to break that fast with whole foods, not simple sugars or processed foods like bagels, cookies, cakes, and pastries.
