Running is a great option in terms of a cardio workout to help increase your lung capacity. Any activity that you're doing aside from your normal daily activity, walking around, maybe your job, running increases your heart rate, increases the capacity that your body requires for you to get oxygen, and will naturally over time, increase your body's lung capacity.

This does take time however. You do want to wait a few weeks. Any adaptions that you're waiting for your body to go through will take about four to six weeks. So if you are using running to increase your lung capacity, have patience with it. Any adaptations you're waiting for your body to go through, will take about four to six weeks. When you start feeling panic when breathless just keep going, be comfortably uncomfortable.its fight or flight response you are trying to overcome, body wants to “flight”but learn to manage this feeling, it gets easier, your body is literally in panic mode .its based on your neurological system, I am having great results 52 yrs can run 6km in half hour on treadmill, but remember if unsure consult medical opinion .i am not a fitness coach

Pace yourself, too! Start slow and steady and then eventually progress to higher speeds. Don't run or sprint cold shoulder! You'll tire out quickly! Yeah, she's right. It takes years to progress to the body of a true marathon runner. I started as a kid, doing cross country back in grade school, and now I can do a couple of miles every sitting easily! It works! But, it does take time. Yes, indeed....
