I think the nickname “jelly gouache” came from the kids snacks (of which there are so many varieties of them around the world) of jelly or jello in a small plastic cup similar to the how HIMI packages their paints, where you pull off the plastic top and just dig in. Now I think a lot of people don’t know where the nickname came from and just assume it’s a different type of gouache or that’s actual name for it but really it’s just gouache in a tub

Its called jelly gouache because it looks like cups of jelly that are sold in a bundle in those little square cups. They are very tasty.

I would like to see an update for when the set is older and the paints in the cups are dried. Weather they are still good to use then and such things

Even if you have the original art in hand, you will never have the most satisfying privilege that only the artist can have: taking off the tape.

It’s nice to see someone actually use this gouache like gouache and gradually build up layers from thin to thick. In a lot of the review videos I watched on this brand, the artists were taking huge globs of paint and applying it thickly to the paper like hard bodied acrylic paint.

If I remember correctly, gouache will actually crack if applied too thickly, because it isn’t flexible like acrylic paint.

Also, here’s my caption: “If this cat bus goes under 50mph, it’ll explode.”

I looked into them a whole ago and found they’re originally designed for students who need to save time in exams so they don’t need to mix all the colours. I’ve seen a lot of people dipping into the cups without washing their brushes, they do look a mess that way. Your painting looks so good, lots of depth in the shadows.

These jelly gouaches are mostly used by art students in china when they're taking a test as they are affordable, comes in many colors so they don't have to take their time mixing from scratch, and are quick to dry so they'll finish the test in time. Quality isn't the best of the best, but you get what you pay for. I have been using it since last year and have enjoyed it a lot. 😄

Ive had them for like a year now, and gosh damn their quality does not degrade. They dry up, but you can add water, let it sit and its like straight out of packaging

I actually really love this. I'm typically a watercolourist but i've been trying to learn gouache and struggling with it. A lot of content i see out there for it is mostly landscapes which isn't really my area of interest. I really hope you show off some more of these gouache paintings in the future!

I really like that he talked through most of the video and didn't use just music and actually statted observations and opinions

Bonus points if they managed to flip to the naked people studies page. ☠

This was so satisfying to watch! I kinda love how easy access the paints are opposed to risking squeezing out too much from the bottles. How do you stop them from drying out, tho I wonder.

Your painting style really made the paints look vibrant than using them rather thickly. Never seen himi miya gouache behave like that. But the paper and your color mixing technique and brush skills def elevated it.

Lovely painting as always @alpay and thanks for sharing your love for gouache paints. 🤙

Even tho i just watched the whole process of this painting, i still have no idea how you made such a gorgeous painting. Like seriously how did you choose the right colors? And the lighting, shading and just overall the colors are so perfect and easy on the eyes it's amazing. Props to you Pro Artist
