Thank you for mentioning and helping the earthquake victims of Turkey and Syria. I live in Turkey and it was a devestating disaster for almost everyone in the country. The scale of the earthquake was insanely big. Hope everyone gets better soon.

Nathan Fowkes, one of my favourite artists, has preached about screen cap studies- more artists should do it!
Also, Pan's Labyrinth is amazing.

If your "bad paper" has been one you've had in a long while, or you had it unintentionally stored somewhere where it might be a bit humid, then the sizing might've reactivated and evaporated over time. Not a lot of people know this (or at least, I didn't know until a month or two ago) but watercolour paper can "go bad" or expire. Much easily if you live somewhere humid/you place your paper somewhere humid.

Teoh Yi Chie and Kimberly Crick Art both have video and blog posts about watercolour paper sizing going bad, and they were how I learned about it.

I’m so happy you’re still using the jelly gouache and making videos with it. As a newbie to traditional art and not wanting to spend money in professional materials, this is really motivating to see. I know it’s not the best gouache out there but to learn and grow you need to use some decent paints. Through watching your videos I finally brought my own set. So every time I see a new jelly gouache video from you, I get so excited ❤

😁I'm glad you did a new gouache painting to show why it is being hyped over the recent history of art.

Note 1: This kind of video is what the community needs. I found Alpay as a result of Ten Hundred's initial art collaboration. I followed it from channel to channel and added a number of new channels to my subscription list that I watch consistently to this day. I watch every Alpay video in full, partially out of commitment, but more so out of my love for the content and the style of the art and of the delivery. This video highlighted several other artists at the end, and I've already added Slew, ADCArtAttack, and Siya Oum to my subscription list and have been watching some of their videos. I'm always looking for new content creators to follow, and this kind of video made that possible. I'll take a referral from a creator I respect over an algorithm any day. Thank you for helping broaden my scope!

This looks FANTASTIC!! Gouache is most definitely my favorite medium. It’s so versatile!! I agree, painting studies of movie scenes is an amazing way to learn. Last year I decided to paint 100 movie scenes as a little creative challenge, and it helped me improve so many different art skills! Highly recommend studies as a practice method (and also because it’s fun!!) 😊

Maybe the sheets on your Montagsmodell-pad were glued in with the wrong side on top? You could try how the backside of one of those papers reacts to the paint. Other than that, yeah, maybe something went wrong in the process or with the coating.

I had no idea that there could be such a thing as "bad batch" paper. My first thought was that you were painting on the back of the paper but if it came in a pad that would be difficult to accidentally do. And I agree, I don't know if @JessKarp or @slew could paint a movie still but I think it should be more of a thing and even I am inspired to try now :)

I love the way your shot your videos it's as much a peace of art as what you creat in them

I think the main reason why the paint is in cups is so that you can more easily see all the colors you have to work with, like with some paint the color on the tubes is a little different than the actual paint and this remedies that, just a small quality of life type thing.

Gouache I use as a preliminary study before oil painting...but seeing few artists like you, Sarah burns and Jess Chung...I believe now this is a real respectable excellent medium if we know how to use it

Movie screen caps are the main thing I draw/paint. I love the feeling I felt during a certain scene and I want to embed it forever in my memory thro art.
It is the best sensation in the whole world for me.

I've been really scared to touch my gouache paints since their pigments stresses me out, but this video just inspired and motivated me to use it again. I really liked the process and the outcome!

They're not my usual cup of tea, but I'm finding great enjoyment in the movies that you're bringing to my attention. I also love that you're donating the proceeds to a current world need, so that your supporters can help those in need as well as purchasing from a favorite artist.

What I like about these gouache paints is that if I took some colour out on a palette and after painting it's still there uncontaminated I can simply scoop it and put it back! You can't do that with a tube.. Also I had tubes before and they dried out.. Maybe because they were bad quality I sldont know.. But I'd rather have dry jelly paint that needs saving than dry paint in a tube
