Holbein black background looks way better then Hemi's. But the Hemi pumpkin looks better then the Holbein🎃

I love the other one, hemi gives you endless options. While the other ones give you creative thinking and learning the color wheel. Which is a good technique in art. See what colors work or the opposite of that color.

The Himi looks rougher, more "rustic" but I actually prefer that too the the smooth fully saturated look of the other.

I always feel like himi gouache has a cool stylistic effect to it, I like that it’s not the smoothest or blends the best, it has nice textures

This is the first gouache video I've watched where someone pronounces Holbein correctly, lol! Love the pumpkins

Both are very beautiful in their own ways, both have slightly different characteristics that compliment styles differently

I bought the Himi gouache set as a complete novice at painting, and I was very satisfied with the results. It came natural how to blend it by just having fun with the palette. I think its perfect for beginners.

They’re both stunning. They way you were able to layer and blend the colors 👌🏻

I love both of them I like all the detail in the first one but I also like the realism in the second great job ❤❤

Just goes to show that mixing mediums is always a good way to get exactly what you want!

Imo the second painting is much better. Im not sure if it’s because of the quality of paints or just the fact that you mixed few paints to achieve the color you want. I think that usually when you use just one color it tends to be much flatter because there is only one pigment.

Hey what is the sketch book you are painting in

They are so close alike in the results. I think the Hemi palette would be my choice having so many colors included. Holbein is nice on the paper, but sometimes mixing can be a challenge and making colors muddy. Ive been using student grade gouche tube paints that I put in a small pocket palette. Once I put aside Inktense a bit and use gouche more I may buy the larger set.

I just bought HIMI, except it's in tubes. I'm interested to see what consistency it will have. If it's the same as the pots or more smooth.

Personally, I love the natural look of HIMI. Holbein is quite nice too though

When I heard Holbein I immediately thought of the House of Holbein from Six the musical lol and now it's stuck in my head

To me, they're super similarly toned/saturated so it's tied.

What kind of Holbein are you using?
I got a small pallet to try out and it's like every color is transparent and the colors muddy insanely quickly.

Both look good but the himi packaging looks like a nightmare. Knowing how messy I am, I’ll probably end up mixing up the colors or dropping the palette and getting paint everywhere.

I honestly hate the himi pallet. It’s only redemption is how adorable the packaging is and it’s affordability. The quality of the paint is lack luster. I’ve tried a ton of gouaches and my favorite is turners acrylic gouache.
