The #1 Misused Verse by New Agers.

Technically, it's two verses.
Psalm 82:6 and John 10:34. Are you gods? If you ever come in contact with a New Ager, I can say with some degree of certainty that they will bring up these verses as supposed proof texts of their divinity. You need to be equipped to know what these verses actually mean.

Hey Melissa: I am an ex-Mormon. Goes back to them coming from England in my great-grandparents sides. Both. I wish I could talk to you. You are really helping me! Mini Mormon gods and Planet Kolob is laughable. Some of the most intelligent people I know buy this - including my deceased father whom I was extremely close to. There is so much to unpack here and it's been with me my entire life. I am now a Born Again. Thank you Jesus.

There are so many things in the Bible that get twisted by "new agers". I was one of them! I even bought a Bible to prove to Christians that things I was doing, as a new ager, was good and right by their own book. I never had a single person challenge me. That's why messages like this are so important. For this reason I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to read your Bible and KNOW what the Word says... lest you be deceived. It's so important. Thanks Melissa!

The key to all this self-serving verse quoting?
*C-O-N-T-E-X-T!!* Melissa demonstrated it well.

#1 misused scripture: “Don’t judge me”—used after someone tells them their favorite sin is not approved by God.

You bring out something I've always thought was ironic about the LDS use of these verses. I've always wanted to ask them, "So are you saying that the gods we supposedly can become are evil, unjust, and about to be judged by God?" This does not seem like something one would wish to aspire to.

My conversion at 19 began with an encounter with God saying to me “get a Bible read it and obey it. Along with the command came a revelation about the nature of God and my unholy sinful state and need of mercy

"You can get that just by... reading it..." 😆 love you sister! Praying your ministry keeps reaching people to see the importance of digging deeper into scripture of the Bible for themselves and asking God to open their eyes.

I loved this statement. Just wanted to show it to you.
Do you know what God left out of the Bible? Your opinion.

Thank you, Melissa! I subbed a few days ago for other videos you put up, but this video hammers home what I have been telling people that CONTEXT is precisely why we have to read ALL of the Word of God. Using verses and passages out of context is the same thing as *_adding to or taking away from the Word_* ...

Thanks, Melissa. There is only truth. Beliefs are just opinions. That's why it is so important to be familiar with the Bible in its entirety.

This is perfect and timely. I am currently having conversations with some Mormonswho actually quoted those verses. The way you explain it biblically will help me to better explain that we can never be gods and that's not what those verses say. I know this of course, but listening to you will help me explain it better. Thank you.

Well done, In addition Michael S. Heiser also has a lot to say on the same subject.

Melissa, you may have read this book already, but if not it's one to definitely add to your list and delve into; it's the book "Unseen Realm" by the late Dr Michael S Heiser; it's his dissertation. He did write an easier version for those not into footnotes; titled "Supernatural".

Thank you for making it very clear about these two scripters. Just a few times I had heard people say we are gods and believed it or say we as Christians ignore that part of the Bible, instead of study the Bible to find the truth. I love your videos. I learned a lot from you. God had opened many doors for me on studying the Bible in many ways and with my Baptist church. God bless your Journey with God's word.

This is very interesting. As a teacher in public school, I see the miss interpretation of common place English words all the time. It only stands to reason that works translated from ancient texts would also be misunderstood. Legitimately, people are only reading pieces of things in general and never really have the overall picture. It is sad. Thanks for sharing.

"We are gods" reminds me of a conversation I just had. I explained what I believe, and someone went on to say that many people do have higher powers and that could even include ourselves. "We could be our own higher power." I was like "I don't think so..."

You are so funny! I love your line, "....who needs some annoying soverign outside ourselves telling us what to do." Remember, Melissa....God gave you that great sense of humor!
