Flexibility: How Often Should You Stretch?

In this video I tell you how often you should stretch.

For those who do it just to stay a bit flexible I would say stretching for about 3 days a week (15 minutes per training).
If you are looking for more advanced skills like splits, stretch about 4-5 days a week with 20-30 minutes workouts.
Finally, if you want to get the best out of your flexibility go for working stretching 6-7 days a week for at least 20 minutes.

I don't know when should I stretch and when should I workout. Can I workout hard and stretch in the same day?

No, to much effort can ruin your progress because the body needs time to recover from a stretch.

I stretch a muscle group each day. Other days I add an extra muscle group to improve progress. For example I stretch my hips 2x a week and ankles 3-4 times.. if Im happy with my ankle flexibility and stretch them 1x a week will I be able to maintain?

Hey Jerome really liking the beard. Got one question though. When stretching for the splits how long should you hold the stretch for? 30 to 60 seconds? And how long should you rest before resuming again?

Do you "lock" your knees while stretching?

flexibility is a bit of a misnomer.

what everybody should be considering, as an all encompassing idea, is improving ones mobility for whatever athletic endeavour is at hand.

for example, ones hamstring mobility is only a correlate for how well a round house kick will be performed. there are so many aspects of traditional flexibility that apply to a round house kick and sometimes one can get away with a shorter hamstring is that person has stronger rotational capacities (this is maybe a bit to "technical" but internal/external rotation are good concepts to understand if you are serious about improving your mobility (and flexibility within that).

beyond this, if you improve your overall "mobility", all of a sudden, techniques that used to be elusive are at your disposal, as well as, the ability to heal, regenerate, and recover much more efficiently

kelly starret is a great place to start as far as improving these ideas and concepts. i feel like i just vomited stuff he has said within this comment, but that dude is a wealth of information for all athletes who are serious about taking their game to the next level.
