I learned of manipulation at a very early age, id say around 10 years old. I was in the driveway of my house playing, being a kid, and a magazine sales person walked up and attempted to sell me a subscription. I explained i only had 20 dollars and that wasnt enough, he told me someone had tipped him 20 bucks from down the street and if I gave him that 20 he would use the 20 he got as a tip to help pay for my subscription. 19 years later and still no magazine. Suffice to say, I do all my research inside and out before i buy something, 99.99 percent of the time I do not listen to a word a sales representative says because i know more about the product than they do and I sure as hell do not give the time of day to ANYONE who tries to sell me a product. Since it happened so young, ive fine tuned my brain to pick up on manipulation, its second nature now. My wife hates it because there is literally nothing she can do to manipulate me into getting her way.

Well, I wouldn't say we are always getting manipulated but influenced by our environment and society all time. We only want to fit in and actively adapt to our environment we live in.

That is when some try to use this natural behavior as a benefit and start to manipulate people. This happens very often, from TV shows, advertises, mails, phone calls up to trends and speculations etc..

Joking aside, number 1 I buy something based on if I like the product. If it's something that is 100% proven to get rid of spots instantaneously, I will buy at earliest convenience, but if it's a new drink, I will pay little-to-no attention. I'm not so easily fooled.

My manipulation was when some employees embezzled my life savings. I thought they were my best friends. The catch is, people who can embezzle are PROFESSIONAL at seeming friendly and reliable. Since I signed all the cheques, I thought I need not worry. The biggest problem I had as a result was trust. I had no idea who was in on this and whom I could trust.
