The REAL REASON Jango Fett Wanted an Unaltered Clone [Legends]

Jango Fett may claim to be just a simple man making his way through the universe but in reality, he was a complex man with a variety of intricate motivations. As payment for his DNA and services to the kaminoans, Jango asked only for one thing, an unaltered clone.

This request was a surprise to many. The Kaminoans certainly regarded it as a strange request and Dooku would mock the bounty hunter, stating that he did not regard Jango as the sentimental type.

So what was the rationale behind this seemingly uncharacteristic request?

To understand this, we must take a look at Jango's early life, a story that is not really known in universe and out.

As a young boy, Jango became embattled within the devastating conflict known as the Mandalorian civil war. This war was an ideological one, pitting the ruthless death watch against the honorable True Mandalorians.

Jangos family were sadly killed by the Death Watch but the boy escaped, proving himself to be a talented warrior even as a boy. For this, he was adopted by the leader of the True Mandalorians, Jaster Mereel.

Jango Rose through the ranks of the True Mandalorians, soon becoming one of their most talented warriors. However, the True Mandalorians were betrayed by one of there own and Jaster Mareel was killed by the death watch. Despite only being a young adult, Jango Fett would take up the mantle of leader of the true Mandalorians. However, his reign was to be short lived.

On the planet of Galidraan, the true Mandalorians were tasked with putting down an insurrection by the planet's governor. Unbeknownst to Jango, this was a setup. The Galdiraan governor was an ally of the Death Watch and lied to the Jedi order that the True Mandalorians put down of the insurrections was a brutal slaughter of his people.

Led by Jedi Master Dooku, a Jedi strike team attacked Jango and his true Mandalorians. In the ensuing battle, many Jedi lost their lives but the Mandalorians fared worse. The true

Mandlaorians were almost completely annihilated and Jango was sold into slavery.

Jango eventually escaped and killed the Death Watch leader but the destruction of the True Mandalorians pushed Jango into a life of bounty hunting.

In The Mandalorian S2 the story of Jango Fett is now officialy "canon".

It ticks me off that Disney hasn't done much with him yet. I don't see Open Seasons really conflicting with much of what's in Canon, they would have to change some things of course, but I think it would be very minimal compared to other Legends stories. Jaster (Or Mentor Jast) and a Mandalorian Civil War were name dropped in Mandalorian Season 2; the True Mandalorians could have been the sweet spot between the murderous Death Watch and pacifist New Mandalorians; Galidraan could be another reason why Dooku left the Jedi (or you could even have a different Jedi instead); they could make it as a type of origin story for Pre Vizsla and how he became the leader of Death Watch after Tor (they could be father/son, uncle/nephew, brothers, etc.); Almec calling Jango "A common bounty hunter who just happened to find Mandalorian armor" would have more weight, himself being a part of the New Mandalorians, of course he would try to distance his people from Jango; not to mention we could see more of the darksaber in action.
I'm sure that someone could incoporate Open Seasons into Canon.

The the real reason why Boba Fett should revive the True Mandalorian, so he can be the leader of his own clan to honor his father!

Orange is my color, but I am right on the cusp of brown (I scored 76). Because peace is always the ultimate goal, I would not want something super flashy, so I am thinking something like Jedi Master Tera Sinube’s sabercane. I would want something that I can take with me everywhere, so I’m thinking of a hilt made from Brylark tree wood to match the walking stick it would be attached to. My lightsaber would also be at the BOTTOM of my staff, again to signify it as a “worst case scenario”, if peaceful negotiations were not working. I would have the pommel (bottom) of my lightsaber as the claw of a Wampa so it doubled as grip for my walking stick and also just look cool. The rest of the staff would again be quite basic, to not draw attention to it. I’m thinking something similar to Chirrut Îmwe’s staff, but potentially made from roots from the Tree of Life from Kashyyyk, which were gifted to me after helping the Wookiees that protect the base of the tree. The staff would also be decorated with Shyyyo bird feathers to further enhance my relationship with nature.

GIVEAWAY ENTRY: My ideal saber would have a hilt similar to that of a Odachi or Katana which I can extend or break off of the hilt to provide as a extra guard since the metal I’d have for my saber would be from Neuranium. It would temporarily block light sabers to prevent a chance of my saber from being destroyed id have the threading of my saber be infused with Cortisis Ore that would short circuit my opponents sabers giving me a upper hand in a duel. The Kyber crystal id go with is a Kaiburr Crystal


I’d also have a blade at the end similar to Darth Malgus’s design however long enough to provide as a dagger.

I’d ideally like to have small components at the bud of my saber hilt that would have extra Cortosis ore shrapnel that I’d be able to use with the force to throw at my opponents, should they try and deflect it their saber would short circuit.

This would be my ideal saber as it is the ultimate duelist weapon. Not only the saber itself but my Kaiburr crystal itself would amplify my force powers a thousand fold and grant me healing abilities making my physical abilities and force abilities that many times more powerful than my opponents
