In some of the now expanded universe his entire family had been murdered or put in a jedi prison and drugged against their will everyday. He couldn't break into the prison, too many guards, and security making it impossible even for a man of his talents. But he could sell his DNA to an army that was planned to take down the Jedi. So that by extension of his clones could have revenge for his family. Boba was to continue his legacy. I'm not certain if he had a wife and kids that were killed by the jedi and thus why we see him alone in the films. Either way his story was a tragic one before it was written off when Disney took over.

Jango lost two families, when Dooku offered him chance to be Clone Template, it seemed he decided to make most of his new life and have a child of his own with Boba

Mando and Jango have so much more in common, I never thought about this:

Have a son that is adopted in a way,

I imagine he got a clone of himself because he wanted to raise his son like he wished he was raised by his own father, maybe this is the result of an abusive childhood or some traumatic experience as a kid.

Just realized, obi wan fought Jango, how jarring it must have been for him (at least the first few times) to see the clones without helmets and be looking at the man who tried to kill you, only to learn to care deeply for the clones, only for them to try and kill you again. I wonder if that messed up obi wan and gave him nightmares or something.

I wonder if Bobs will ever have a kid
I mean I know in legends he had a wife and daughter that hated him and eventually died but he did find his granddaughter and they had a slightly less volatile relationship (still not great at least at first).
