Jango beat down former Jedi Master Vosa! The underworld crime boss behind the manufacturing and distribution of death sticks. Vosa was dying and Dooku force choked finished her off.

Just like in the original trilogy with boba fett, and just like captain phasma, they were all defeated by “diversion of expectations”. They present a mysterious, cool looking character to build intrigue but the writers don’t know what to do with them so they ultimately “kill them off”.

Mace was one if not the strongest swordsmen and Force users in the order, Jango was merely a man, tricks or not he stood no chance. Jango could take a lesser Jedi but when you get to the Mace/Yoda level, very few individuals(Sith really only) stand any chance.

Also Mace didn't want to kill him, he wanted to cut off his legs because he assumed that Jango would try to flee but his Jet pack did not work so head off I guess

Mace uses vapaad and partly the dark side. Fighting Obi wan or any other Jedi. They are not likely to go for the head like Mace did, plus like you said no jet pack…. Jango was a sitting duck
