Meteor crater is so much more impressive in person, pictures can’t do it justice. Astronauts used to train inside to prepare for the surface of the moon. In the surrounding several mile radius you can see the meteor had a huge effect on the surrounding land, it’s basically uprooted the soil and rocks and rearranged everything.

I think y'all would enjoy the Fort Worth Stockyards. The longhorn cattle drive, the western shops, great restaurants and Billy Bob's Texas honky-tonk where you can catch a concert if timed right or just try your luck at riding a mechanical bull. Lol

Millie those cows are Long Horns and are the most docile gentle of the breed ironically with the ones with the longest horns. so they roam freely cause they wont go on a Bull raging stampede like say in Spain. I got to pet one years ago and it was the most friendliest large animal Id ever encounterd

The French Quarter in New Orleans, LA is a place that you must visit, but is also very touristy!

I live in Fort Worth. There is so much history in the Stockyards. Cattle drives used to come through that area, ranchers kept their cattle in the pens (which are no longer there) and waited for them to be auctioned off. Adjacent to the cattle pens were two of America's largest slaughterhouses. The cattle, pigs, sheep etc were taken there to be processed and shipped to butchers. There were also rodeos held in the Stockyards. Yes, the cattle drive is not like a real cattle drive with hundreds of head of cattle, but it gives folks a chance to see real Longhorn steer, real cowboys (yes they are real and not your "drugstore" cowboy type). There are wonderful places to eat...and drink. Billy Bob's Texas is in the Stockyards. Fort worth also has the Botanical Gardens and B.R.I.T. conservatory and numerous wold class art museums. Fort Worth describes itself as a City of Ciwboys and Culture and the name is perfect.

The best thing about Fisherman's Wharf is Scoma's Restaurant. Known for fresh seafood (duh), but the boats unload right there at the restaurant.

My family saw the meteor crater and Grand Canyon on the same day during a drive from coast to coast. We camped at the nearby RV site for the night. The cost to get in isn't the real problem. The problem is the gift shop with a wife who wants to spend all the money and 4 kids. I did get some cactus candies though. Ironically, we spent far more time at the crater than the canyon. It was hot and the horrible kids got bored of walking really fast. Even though the wife and I wanted to see more, we left the Grand Canyon within a half hour and decided we'd return and camp down in the canyon someday (without the kids).

Bulls and cows will follow each other in a straight line. Those are Texas Steer, that’s why the horns are so big.

Love the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota! Can't even count the number of times I've stopped there on my way out west on road trips over the years, beginning when I was four years old. It's such a cool, unique place especially when you're a kid looking through all the fun things they have in their gift shop. Already have plans to stop by there next summer.

One honorable mention would be Wall Drug in Wall, South Dakota witch is a textbook example of a tourist trap.
