In this video, I'm sharing 15 things that happened after I stopped drinking and the reasons why I stopped drinking alcohol as a student 8 years ago. I'm also sharing what my top benefits of not drinking alcohol are and how being sober has changed my life. Whether you’re struggling with addiction, reevaluating your relationship with alcohol, or looking for ways to live a healthier and happier life, this video is for you.

Quitting alcohol wasn’t just a lifestyle change—it completely reshaped my health, relationships, finances, and sense of self. In this video, I’ll walk you through the top reasons I stopped drinking and the surprising benefits I’ve experienced since, including how sobriety helped me achieve my fitness goals, save money, and truly find myself.

At just 12 years old, I started drinking to fit in with peers, and by 21, I realized how much alcohol was negatively impacting my life. My main reasons for quitting were constant hangovers, wanting to lose weight, and my difficult childhood growing up with an alcoholic parent. These realizations led me to a life-changing decision: I gave up alcohol completely, and I haven’t looked back since.

From improved mental clarity and self-esteem to healthier relationships, sobriety has given me the tools to thrive. I’ve learned how to say no, discovered who my real friends are, and embraced a life free from the drama and chaos caused by drinking. It hasn’t always been easy, especially navigating social situations where alcohol is the norm, but the rewards have been worth it.

Sobriety helped me focus on what truly matters—my passions, career, and personal growth. I’ve saved so much money, improved my fitness, and found time to reflect on my past and heal from childhood trauma. Cutting ties with my alcoholic father was a painful but necessary step in my healing journey, and therapy played a huge role in helping me process the impact of growing up in an unstable household.

If you’ve ever considered quitting drinking, or you’re just curious about what life can look like without alcohol, I hope my story inspires you to explore the possibilities.

Let’s break the stigma around sobriety and talk openly about how life-changing it can be to live alcohol-free. I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences in the comments below!

Lifelong teetotaler here. People don’t believe me when I say I’ve never had a sip of alcohol of any kind in any context. But I’m also 34 and get told I look like I’m in my late 20s (when bearded) or early 20s (when clean shaven). It never gets old being told i look younger than I am. So proud of you for your sobriety. Would totally invite you to my friend circle if I knew you in person.

Iiiii agree. It causes so many problems for no reason. And then people need it to have fun. I hate it. I've been needing to learn to be okay with it though, as my partner likes to have some every now and then. I was at a flower shop by krucza and this man came in drink out of his mind and bought some flowers. Barely. It was so sad to see him walk away down the street. I feel bad for him and whoever the flowers were for. Anyway, great video, I agree with all of it!!

Thanks for the video, the key difference for me was zero withdrawal symptoms, physical or mental, not even within the first thirty days, after Steffon Barkload and what he suggested it's been 9 months now it's like it never was a problem, reading that last version goolging what he put up. No AA or meds either was the factor that most attracted me too.

Little bit of flirting (beautiful, sweetheart), flirting stopped. As a fellow sober I am REALLY, really proud of you my sister (I think I can call my sister ("Polak, Węgier, dwa bratanki / I do szabli, i do szklanki / Oba zuchy, oba żwawi / Niech im Pan Bóg błogosławi.")) for stopping drinking any kind of alkohol. I became sober 3-4 years ago after an panic attack 1 day before my second pfizer covid injection because I remembered I suffered a lot instantly after my 1st Pfizer covid injection. I became sober because of my 2 medicines what I need to using for stopping anxiety and my nervousness. By my nature I am always have anxiety and nervousness what was disappered before the covid epidemic after drank some glass wine. I drank 1 glass alkohol half year ago after my psychiatrist told me I can drink a little bit a alkohol next to my medicines but keep that in my mind I need to leave 4 hours between my during the day medicine and in that 4 hours I became anxiety and nervousness. So I finally decided my mental health means a LOT more for than the alkohol. One more what I wanted to tell you before the covid epidemic I could say no to alkohol in anykind of event or I could stop after 1 glass of wine.

23:27 he should watch. That was my first thought when I started to watch this video, really.
Ok, now my thoughts. I can surprise but.... I've never had a hangover. Like... never. Because I've never drunk an alcohol at all. Like... once time when I drived for group vacations, my colleague took from me a water and gave me full beer. I agonized over it for a good three hours. Just I've never like that taste of alcohol. Too bitter, not sweet enough, and THIS IS my reason why I don't drink. Really. It's not a hangover, it's not that I wanted be "one of the cool person" (I wanted but I knew that people who I liked soo much doesn't think the same like me, so I was fight with this thanks to writing "my own book" - it's a story for another time)
My reason was - I don't like that taste. Simple but how hard to understand for other people. And I had the same problem like you - like, people are asking me - why you don't drink? You don't drink WITH ME?
No. I don't.
No. I took the pills (and it's not a lie, because really every day I take a pills for my allergic :D )
No, because I don't like it.
Just no.
That situations learned me how to be assertive person. And... pheew I'M THE LION! :D
Every situation with alcohol makes me raged. So I don't go to party because the is alcohol. I don't take drunk people to my car to take their somewhere. If they are able to drink, they are also able to go somewhere by their foot. I don't like buy alcohol for someone. Just.... I avoid it as much as I can.
In my family, my grandpa was drink a lot. Fortunatelly he doesn't did anything bad when he was drunk. He was back to home and go sleep or he was talking to himself at the kitchen, but he doesn't did anything bad to other people. His brothers also drunk A LOT and maybe that happens with me that I don't like when somebody drink near me. I'm not able to speak with that people because I even don't know how...
Unfortunately I don't know anybody except my aunt and grandmas who don't take an alcohol at every party.
I don't go anywhere because in every party with my friends the most importnat is drunk as a pig and don't remember anything, because they think that is how have to looks like party. -.- So I don't go anywhere. And of course... it's a small town. In british - village so I haven't super big opportunities to go somewhere.
I totally understand your line of thinking. And my dream is go with someone somewhere on a holiday and drink but a tea or coffe and have fun without % because I don't need that, I don't like it. It is not a goal of my life. I saw people who drink a lot and now their haven't their families, they don't have friends... they have only %% which is so sad.
You told about so many important things that I should say over and over again - yea... you're right... yhmyh... absolutely! Correct, thats true... yhm yhm. YES!
So maybe I'll end here. Thank you for that video. I hope that it helps somebody who need that and also shows that in this world are so many people who doesn't drink an alcohol and it's ok and that you - you who drink and want to stop - you're not alone. We are here and we don't drink so there are more of us than you think :)

ps. check your mailbox, because my message will dissapear tomorrow if you don't download it :D I' just saying it :D
