Build Lower Body Muscle Without Lifting Heavier

Let's talk about ROM - range of motion! There has been a lot of discussion about partial range of motion vs full range of motion, but what about increased range of motion? Not many studies have been done on this topic. But, we do know that increased ROM makes an exercise more challenging without needing to go heavier. This is great news if you're training at home or if you simply don't want to lift heavier weights all the time.

We'll do a deep dive on 5 exercises that you can try increased ROM with:
1. Toe-elevated RDL
2. Heel-elevated dumbbell deadlift
3. Straddle squat
4. Heel-elevated frog stance goblet squat
5. Front foot elevated split squat

Experience a better stretch, improved mobility, and possibly increased strength and injury prevention with extra ROM exercises. If you'd like to see more exercise ideas on this topic, please comment below!

As usually awesome Erin … just got your book for my gf “Train Like A Bodybuilder” I think she’s going to love it. I’m a stroke survivor and I use some of your workouts for my strength training. I don’t believe that they’re men & women workout just “human” workout

Exactlyyyy. Ppl always think you HAVE to lift heavier to become stronger. But that's not necessarily true at a point

I dislike leg day but I am driven to work them daily by getting my 14000 steps and on wed and sundays I work them in the gym and I will be doing this workout. I have been using the cables and yes I have been using one of your videos. love the way you visualize your instructions. you are definitely a real educator/ trainer.

This was a GAME CHANGER for my workouts! I was shaking so hard from making those small changes and I kept the weights light(15 lb db for split squat). Omgoshhhh! Thank you !

After seeing this I think I’m going to revisit your book. I’m writing myself a program that I can do with a cable machine and dumbbells but I need to be able to progress without a lot of load. This helps. Thanks!

I'm a young stroke survivor and this video couldn't have come at a better time. I just learned I have a rare connective tissue disorder and cannot lift heavy or I will have another stroke. But weightlifting is a huge part of my identity so I have to learn how to challenge myself without increasing weight. Thank you Erin! More examples of these please 🙏

Like always you never disappoint. For years I’ve lifted heavy and for a few months now I’ve been de-motivated because of stress. Now I’m back in the gym but I no longer have an interest to lift heavy. Thank you for always posting great easy content 💜
